    XD 45 or 9mm?

I had some time off from work today so decided to browse around at Turners, and ended up really liking the way the XD felt in my hands. They didn't have the 45 but I held a 40 and 9mm XD and really liked those versions too.. Has anyone shot both the 9 and 45 or the 40 as well? Any opinion on which one you would choose? Stopping power aside and considering Fun first then Accuracy Second.

I only shot the .45 model but it was really fun. It feels good in your hands and the safety system is great. No hammers to screw with, just grab it and shoot. Fun little gun.

I have the XD40. It is by far the most accurate and trouble free semi-auto in it's price range as far as I'm concerned. Much more accurate and reliable than my 9mm Baby Eagle (accuracy good, broken extractor after about 300 rounds) or my .45acp Ruger P90 (accuracy fair, doesn't like to return to battery always) or in .40 cal. also, my SIG P226 (reliability is perfect, accuracy good, probably great if I could muster the courage to tweak the front sight a bit). But the SIG's price is usually a couple of hundred bucks more than the XD. Good luck.

I have a xd-40, very fun gun to shoot and accurate. I decided on it after renting a g22 and the xd-40 at the local range. I was able to handle the xd better. Mabe you should try renting them and trying them for yourself to see what's best for you before you go spend a few hundred dollars on buying one then not liking the way it feels or shoots. But from what i've seen xd-45's are the way to go.

I plan on doing that soon... Still in the early stages of figuring out what I like most... Thanks for your input guys!

+1 for more range time, I'd go 9mm

since you prob dont have any preban 9mm mags for the XD, go with the .45 unless you want to be cheap about the ammo. if mags were free, id go with the 9mm..

I have an XD9 and want the XD45. I say get them both. If you don't have a 9mm get that one first because it maybe the last 9mm you will ever buy. I seriously can not think of another 9mm that will satisfy me as much as the XD. It's currently the only 9mm I own. I have shot Sigs, Glocks, CZ and Rugers. For me the Sig P226 would be a close second but does cost a bit more. My 02 cents.

I've got an XD40 service and an XD9 SC. Both are great. Might have went with the 45 but it wasn't out when I got the 40 & the 9. I've got a G36 for my 45acp needs, that is until I pick up a P220 or a USP.

Ive shot the XD45 quite a bit and I like it. Its definately an accurate, reliable little handgun.

To the gentleman that stated his XD was more accurate than his baby eagle, I'll add my personal experience along with my buddies. We both shoot my Baby Eagle steel 9mm more accurately than his XD. It's MY opinion that the 'Eagle is a damn hard gun to beat for the dollar.
