    H&R 649

I've just picked up an H&R 649, ANIB except for missing the extra 22 Magnum cylinder. Has the 22 lr only. Spare cylinders aren't exactly expensive, but a bit difficult to find. And H&R isn't known for extraordinarily tight tolerances. I'm supposing that can cut both ways - to allow easy drop in of a part not made specifically for the gun, or so much that there will be too much slop.

With that in mind, has anyone bought a spare cylinder for these series of guns and found it dropped in, functioned OK?

    Just noticed this...
I did just that. I bought a new 649 in 1975 that came with the mag cylinder. Had a lot of fun with it shooting magnums.

Life happened and after several years and moves the mag cylinder was lost.

Years later a co-worker offered me a little fancier H&R 22, maybe a 676? for a super cheap price and it had the mag cylinder also. Tried the mag cylinder in the 649 and fit perfectly.

Kept the mag cylinder with the 649 and sold the other 22.

Still have the 649, was my second handgun and still serving me well...
