Well, after 33 years, I have a slight chance of buying back a gun I sold when money was tight and I needed to liquidate my collection.
In the late 70's, I was newly married and had my back to the wall financially. I sold a Rem. 742, a Marlin 1895, a S&W Model 57, a Walther PPKs, a Colt 70 Series Govt, Model, and a Colt 70 Series Combat Commander. Of all of these guns, the one I have lamented most over all of these years was the Combat Commander (.38 Super in Satin Nickle).
Last week, I located the person I sold the gun to and he agreed to sell it back to me. We are both obviously much older and he is willing to make me whole once he tracks it down. I am on pins and needles while he checks with a few relatives who he thinks may still have the gun.
A one in a million shot if it all comes together, but I am thinking positive and believing it will all come together.
I read at times about guys who find and buy back a now classic car they owned thirty years ago, and I am hoping that I can report back with a similar situation soon.
Wish me luck!!
