    Beretta safelist clarification question

new to this forum; I've been looking around at handguns and getting one off gunbroker or somewhere else online and shipped to an FFL. However the CA safelist or whatever has me a bit confused.

They list the 96 Inox as safe and ever variation, Brigadier, Vertec etc, but they don't list the 96 FS inox

when I google 96 Inox it comes up as looking the exact same as the 96 FS inox.

Is there a difference between the two? They have the 92FS's as safe but not the 96FS? And on gunbroker I noticed some 96FS inox sellers refusing to ship to CA even with the standard 10rd mags (so it isn't a high cap issue like with some 92FS's online)

Any info would be great, I'm either too stupid to google properly or just too impatient to sift through all the pages google gives me.

At a guess, Beretta didn't pay the $200 to add that particular model to the list.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

but is there an actual difference between the 96 Inox and the 96 FS inox? they appear to be the same gun visually

      96 inox

      - 96 FS inox

the only differences I can see are the control colors which can vary from year to year on the 96FS inox from what I've seen, so that doesn't seem to make a diff.

You are making a common beginner's error: you are trying to find some logic or reason behind California gun laws. That quest is doomed to failure.

As the laws are now implemented, the best one can do is work within the externalities. In this case, is the exact named model on the Roster, yes/no? If 'yes', all is well. If 'no', some of the alternative methods of acquiring that model must be attempted: have an out of state relative (parent, grandparent) buy one for you as a gift, and send it to CA; find someone in CA - LEO or someone else who owns one - who will sell it PPT.

This may shed some light on your question.

Apparently a 96 is really a 96FS is what I gather from reading that. Whereas there really was a 92 then a 92FS. The 96 has always been an FS.
