Magazine marking?

One of my favorite handguns is my RAMI, I have a CCW and its my only carry gun. Having just got it a little while back I never thought I'd be free to get its standard capacity magazines. Also I'm a magazine hound and already had 9 - 10 round magazines. Now I have twelve with 3 being standard capacity thanks to the judge.

These magazines all appear exactly the same. I'm trying to figure out the best way to mark the standard capacity magazines so I know which one's they are? Best means?

Throw away the 10 rounders, problem solved!

If all your mags have polymer basepads you can use a $7 soldering gun to stipple numbers, dots, or Roman numerals. You can also get an electric engraving tool to mark the metal body.

One thing to keep in mind if you’re just marking the base pad is when cleaning the mags. Should be done one at a time or have a good procedure not to mix followers and springs, unless you want to mark the followers too.

An easy way to mark your mags is with a Sharpie, Testor paint, or durable vinyl stickers.

Yep. Metallic Sharpie to the bottom of the base plates, mark a "+" sign so that you know.

Or alternately, get some of those little gold start stickers and same thing, attach one to the bottom of your base plate, repeat as needed.

Yeah, that will work, right up until the 9th overturns the ruling and dismisses the injunction banning enforcement of 32310 (c). Not a good idea to dispose of something we may very well need in the not to distant future.

Typically, unless it was a LCM blocked to 10, the witness holes tell the tale.

Oil based Sharpie - these are great for mag marking. Clean area to remove dirt and oil, then apply. Markings are durable but can be removed with alcohol.

I also mark a date when I last serviced the magazine with new springs. I have a S&W 411 from back in 1993-1994, and had to scrounge around eBay for 10-round mags a few years back (lots of standard 11-rounders; was harder to find 10-rounders). Scrounging around for mags that might be 20+ years old often means getting mags with worn springs that can induce FTL, etc. and I didn't want to intermingle some older, personally owned mags with newly purchased but worn mags, hence the service date marking.

Not really relevant for Rami mags (at least not today!) but might be beneficial for others to consider for older, harder to source mags that need a bit of refurbishing.

This^^^ I’m not sure what magazines OP is talking about. There are two 9mm Rami mags, 10rd and 14rd, and they are easy to tell apart. Stevie Wonder could tell them apart. Same for the Rami .40SW 7rd and 9rd mags.

I use a label maker.. I've shot a lot of USPSA competition and I've never had a single label wear off from usage. Other people I know have opted for laser etching but that gets pricey...

I've tried sharpies and white out but I like labels the best. It's clean and you can immediately tell which magazines are yours. Ever drop a glock, sig, HK magazine in a training class? Try writing with a sharpie on something dark? Yea..good luck. With sharpies you can't tell which ones are yours. Unless you physically hold the magazine, it's hard to ID.

Label maker with white tape. It stands out and makes IDing your magazine from a distance much easier.
