Glock 37 - 45 GAP Ctg?

Howdy Gang,

Do any of you have any experience with this weapon? Do you have any opinions you would care to share?

Any comments on the 45 GAP ammo?

Very hard to find, and no reason to use it in US. It is something Glock came up with as a solution to reduce the frame size and/or to allow .45 caliber in countries that restrict military calibers. It did not take off and probably won't. There are several agencies using it(less than 5 IIRC), so it's going the way of 41AE.

The .45GAP was created from USA LE request for a .45 calibered pistol with a grip equivalent to a 9mm/.40 grip.
The Glock 37 & .45GAP is currently the standard issue for four state law enforcement agencies (New York State Police, Georgia State Patrol, Pennsylvania State Police, and South Carolina Highway Patrol) and numerous local agencies.

I think the .45GAP shines best in subcompacts.
A Kahr Arms PM9 sized pistol in .45GAP would rock.
I also find the shorter OAL of the .45GAP makes reloading faster in my .45ACP revolver.

.45GAP ammo can be had for reasonable price if you order online or reload your own.

Well that is the reason that I am looking at it. I have a fairly short hand (I need to use the short trigger on a 1911 to get proper grip) and the Glock profile is good to wear under a shirt. But the 36 is too big for me to grip properly.

I have one and I do like it for what it is, I did own a G21 at one time and even with a Robar grip reduction it was still to fat for my preference. I would say that you really should consider loading your own ammo with one of these, that is unless you don't shoot often enough to warrant the expense. I have a Dillon 650 and about 4000 GAP cases so I am set as far as the G37 goes. It is easier to load the GAP cartridges into a revolver with moon clips, and easier to unload the same as well.

Have you tried Springfield XD? It takes 45ACP and is slim enough. If it has to be a Glock, did you also try Glock 21 SF?

Have you tried Springfield XD? It takes 45ACP and is slim enough.

For some reason I did not like the "feel" of it as well as a Glock (I have owned a couple of .40 Glocks in the past) or as well as a 1911. In fact, I end up comparing everything to how the 1911 feels so that might be an answer, eh?

Well I'm past the "Caliber war" and feel 9mm is ideal with good ammo (124gr +p Ranger-T in my case), I was buying the ammo for ~$13/50 in 2004-2005 from my gun dealer and prices jumped for him quite a bit and I bailed ship. From now I've decided to stick to one platform which is 9mm Glocks where I can still afford to take a ~1200 round 2 day class and not cry over the cost of ammo... That's what I have my AR for

If you want a 45 and have small hands, the 45 GAP is great for that. 45 ACP ballistic in 9mm grip size. The recoil is comparable to the 45 ACP and not too bad in the Glock platforms. The G37 is a good full size gun while the G38 or G39 are better for CCW, whichever you can wear better. All 45 GAP glocks have the Glock reliability and I have never had any problems there.

Ammo price is about the same as 45 ACP if you mail order.

I am glad I have my 45 GAP Glocks. I own other 9mm and 1911 as well but I always go back to my 45 GAP as my working gun.

I agree with you about arguing about which is the "best" cartridge. The skill of the shooter is the most important factor. Plus I expect that we point our guns at bad guys far more than we shoot them at bad guys.
