    need help choosing a semi-auto

hi im purchasing my first handgun and not sure weather to get a .45 or 9mm. ill be using it for mostly target shooting but id like to be able to protect myself if someone tries to break into my house or something.

im looking to spend under $500 and looking at 9mms, .40s, .45s

im in chico ca so any tips about the best local shops would be great, i went to the shops in town and the really small one seemed to have the best prices and selection of handguns.

right now im thinkin maybe one of the taurus pt24/7 pro guns cause the price is right and from what ive read they are pretty good

    any help would be appreciated!!!

sgcusa.com scottsdale gun glub have glock g23 police trade ins for 350.

40 cal is a popular range and defensive load and the glock 23 is an excellent weapon.

Glocks don't have "funny" triggers, they have a proprietary safety mechanism built into the trigger to prevent discharge by drop that gives the trigger a lot of creep before it hits that just-before-the-striker-falls solid point. I personally don't like it, it feels like a really weak double action system, but that doesn't mean you won't like it. I know plenty of people who are much better with their Glock than I am with my own guns. Just a matter of individual fit. Same goes for the grips, they're very foreward tilting at the wrists, but again that doesn't mean a Glock won't fit you.

I'd recommend saving up some more dough and renting as many firearms as are available to you at local ranges. You may discover one you've never even heard of that fits you better than any other.
