I had one and loved it until the slide cracked. Very picky about ammo. Ran like a champ on Fiocchi or Federal. Constantly choked on Winchester or Remington.
Try a variety and see what it likes.

I have one. The extractor may need replacement. Yes, the magazines are relatively expensive.

NEVER dryfire those. Firing pins will break. Sounds like replacement extractor is in order.

Maybe on the top of the list of pistols that you must never, ever dry fire.

I've been considering one, Impact guns in UT has good condition ones for $249.
so next time my daughter ask what I want for my birth day, it might be that.
I should have bought one here years ago when they were $129

                    Possibly the spring.

These things are usually laying around for a long time, replacing all the springs is a good idea.

Stars were the best of the Spanish guns---in my opinion---but remember Model Bs have been out out production for longer than most people have been alive! Dry firing is strictly a no go---parts are where you find them---I would NEVER want to use one as your frontline defense pistol---at this stage, they are mostly just interesting toys with history... Don't pay too much---like maybe $200 if you must have it...

I have a B, PD and a 380 version (S I think). I don't shoot them often, I was given them by my Grandpa. When I do shoot them, I try to remember which ammo they like. Parts can be found, but through several hours of searching.

i found a couple of sites that discuss this pistol and extraction issues, probably you found them as well but i thought i'd post a link just in case:
This is a thread to hopefully help all those with Star B Super extraction issues. Obviously, the most difficult part about the extraction issues these guns face is that there are no new replacement pa

Greetings, This is my first post so I do apologize if this is not the location this should be in. I wasn't able to find a Star subsection and since I am looking for some expertise, I thought this might be a good place to start. Back in April I purchased my first semi-auto, a Spanish surplus...

One post from this link (https://forums.gunboards.com/showthr...-B-odd-problem) mentioned the following: I replaced the spring with a Wollf extra power extractor spring for a CZ75 that I had lying around. It was obvious that this had a lot more tension to it.

I went back to the range and the gun now works 100%!I put through about 150 rounds, weak hand ,strong hand, limpwristed etc,and couldnt get it to malfunction,so Im pretty happy with it now.I should mention that I gave the chamber a bit of a polish up,but I dont think that it was contributing to any of the issues.

Please let us know how things work out.
