    PPT seller requirements?

I've tried searching for this answer on my own before posting, but what are the requirements for the seller in a PPT transaction? I moved here recently and might put a handgun up for sale on the forum, but I don't have my CA DL yet. Other than setting arrangements with an FFL, is there anything else I need to do or be aware of?

CA ID will be your easiest/fastest way. Or you can wait till your CA driver license with your current address. You only need one ID for selling.

In a PPT 2 days ago which was a trade but each of us acted as the respective sellers, we had to produce CA DL, HSC and in our cases, vehicle registration as the additional ID with current address.

The HSC and additional ID is only for purchasing/acquiring, not selling.

I defer to the precise knowledge of others!

However, given that people in stores may sometimes not have a precise understanding of the regulation, it's prudent to have those documents along.

Thanks for the responses. I was planning to get my DL this week, but things kept popping up. About how long does the permanent license take to arrive in the mail?

It takes a few weeks, but you don't need the permanent DL. If you go to DMV in person, they will print you out a vehicle registration and temporary DL, which (along with a gov't photo ID, like your out-of-state DL) should satisfy the FFL's requirements.

My driver's license and vehicle reg. both had old addresses on them, and I recently bought one gun and sold another. In both cases the dealer began the DROS anyway, all I had to do was go to DMV, get updated vehicle registration and DL change-of-address card (it's just a paper card), and fax both to the dealer. No problem. Just make sure you get that paperwork to the dealer before the waiting period is up, otherwise they won't let the seller pick it up!
