    Quick Sig Question...

    I'm looking at purchasing a SIG P226...

I've narrowed down my choices to the MK. 25 or the Nitron (I really want a Legion.. but hey who would'nt!)

I'm thinking for the cost of around $1000-1100'ish for gun itself and then :
    1. SRT trigger ~ $50
    2. Front Xray sight ~$60
    3. Set of G10 Grips ~$130
    -------
    ~$240
So.. for around MSRP of a generic P226 I could end up with a pretty good SIG

My question is this.. The Nitron comes with the E2 Grips... Can they be switch out to the G10 grips?

Regarding grips, yes, after removing the E2 one-piece grip, the frame will have threaded bosses for regular grip screws for the G10 grips.

Also, the OP has "Front Xray" sight listed twice. Perhaps there's a double counting issue of ~$60.

If you really want a SIG Legion, just save up an extra pay-check and get what you want, although, it won't matter much if it becomes a daily-carry gun. Either one will feel the same while being carried and you'll become used to either one when drawing and shooting, enhanced beavertail or not.

Like L-2 said. Save up or spend it you have it. Get what you want rather than try to keep upgrading. The Legion is worth it.

You could also send it to Bruce gray or Robert Burke for less then the CA "premium" of an offroster pistol, and have it be better then ANY factory legion.

Have you looked at the P226 extreme or any of the elite series pistols?

The extreme includes G10 grips, SRT, and sig night lite sights.

Scorprion elite also includes G10, SRT, sig night sights but also adds front cocking serrations and an extended beaver tail (color is obviously different).

L2.... Good catch... Edit made LOL
@L2 not wont be a EDC.. just ranges...
Tehjosheh... yeah and what I'm learning is pretty much a P226 is a P226 SIG will upgrade or down grade.. larger duck tale..different sights .. slightly shorter barrel (the Elite) etc and give the beast a different name. But I'll check out your suggestions!

I'm more interested in the features that the Legion provides... Better trigger better front sight.. so looking at my estimate... I'm out 1200 or so bucks with everything the Legion has except for the name and hype. Vs 1400-1500 for the Legion
Thanks Gents... you've been a help!

Have you shot a P226? I only ask because I see a lot of people trying to sell them in the marketplace. They arent for everyone. Personally, the P226 is one of the least accurate guns for me to shoot. It just doesnt seem to like my hands. I still own a few of them because they are really well made guns. All of mine have been used, I would never buy a new one.

There is a lot of hype about Sigs. While I think they are great guns they are pricey. Personally, I shoot a lot of other guns including Glocks a lot better than the P226. So dont be surprised if it doesnt impress you. I do however, think that the latest version of the P320 with the upgraded trigger is an excellent pistol, and I prefer it over my P226 or P229.

But if you dont over pay for a used one you should be able to sell it and get your money back if you end up not liking it.

Try one out first before making the purchase. As nice as they are you might not prefer how they feel when you shoot them.

If you do like how they feel try a p229 they are a perfect size especially if you have medium to large hands

Isn't the P229 essentially the same except for a shorter barrel?

Slightly shorter barrel and grip as far as I know. I really like my 226 and am considering a 229, seams like a real nice size.

Regarding the SRT only, I installed one on my older 229 and the reset is extremely short - about 1/16" movement. The parts were very well finished even prior to polishing. Bought an SRT for a friend and the parts weren't nearly as well finished and the reset wasn't nearly as short. Better than nothing at all though. So it seems to me there is a distinct difference in kit quality somewhere along the line. Everything came in Sig packaging, don't know what marks the difference. For some reason I'm thinking one of the parts in the lesser kit was MIM as opposed to cast & finished? Been a while.

I have MK25. Polymer grips which fit my medium hand perfectly. Replaced the nite sights with X-Ray and what a difference! The front sight comes alive.

If they weren't that expensive, I would have put them on my other P226's and P229s.
