Well suited for handgun hunting and protection in the backcountry, the Model 610 is built on the large Smith & Wesson N-frame and is available with either a 4-inch or 6.5-inch barrel.

Interesting. How does a hot 10mm load compare to .357 and .44? Somewhere in the middle? Closer to .357? Less than .357?

        Does it shoot .40 also?

Nevermind, says it does right under the specifications tab.

        I'll stick with .357.

Its crazy! Right after I picked one up via PPT! At least I have the unfluted cylinder model. I'm really glad they are bringing back the 610.

They should've released it as a 5 shot L Frame.

Call it something like the 680

Easily removed and can be plugged to match finish.

does lock prevent anyone from shooting the 610? affects accuracy? reliability?

It doesn’t affect accuracy or trigger pull/reset.

My 625 locked spontaneously at the range one time. I couldn’t figure out why since I was using Federal American Eagle 230 gr FMJ at the time. Needless to say, I stopped carrying it.

Spontaneous locking is repeatable about 10% or more of the time with hot loads with heavy bullets being shot through a lightweight frame (Source: Michael Bane, Downrange Radio Podcast). For example, if you are shooting a 329PD with hot 44 Magnum, not only are you a masochist, you are likely to get lock failures.

Just I was thinking about Ruger RedHawk 10mm or GP100 Match Champion 10mm,
                              will wait for 610.
