Holy smokes! Ammo is double the cost for .50 vs .44!

50AE ammo should not cost you double what 44 mag costs. You should be able to get a box of Hornadys for about $26 for a box of 20. I own a 44 and a 50. I usually shoot the 50. It's too much fun. Besides, how many other 50 cal handguns are there? Two or three?

The recoil and blast of the 50AE Desert Eagle will wake you up, but it’s not as brutal as 300 grain full up 454 Casull with a Ruger Super Blackhawk. If you really want blast & recoil bragging rights at the range the 460 or 500 S&W is hard to beat.

Buy the 44mag then buy the conversion Barrel and mags can be had on Ebay for $300 sometimes . Grease the right places and learn the stance to shoot it and the Desert Eagle will treat you well.

For me, I found it Overpriced, Overweight, and Overrated. I shot the .50 when they first appeared many years ago, didn't give me a thrill but did give my wrist a workout holding all that metal in my hand at arms length.
If you want it, buy it.

If you want a range toy that gathers attention, just buy an Automag. You'll need to reload but Starline has brass. Mags are the weak spot, so you'll need good ones, but other than that they run pretty well. Just bring an extra 100 rounds when you take it out,because everyone will want a turn.
