    Ruger Redhawk .357

I'm am looking for another revolver. Already have the GP-100 in .357 and I see the Redhawk has an 8 round capacity. Anyone here with any experience with that gun? I know it is big and heavy but from what I've read it is pretty solid. Also, it appears that the Redhawk is compatible with moon clips and even includes three with the gun.

Part of my reasoning for wanting a higher capacity revolver is that I fully expect that California under Newscum is going to go after all semi-autos so I want to have a backup plan should I have to move some of my firearms to one of my out-of-state properties.

I just started reading up on both and one of the thing that was pointed out to me was that the grips on the GP100 are slightly larger and more comfortable, and there are more aftermarket options for it. Otherwise both are solid. I hope to rent one of each to try them out before purchasing.

It's just way more gun (Redhawk) than you need for .357. I'm not sure you could blow one up if you tried. Maybe would make sense to me in Maximum. Honestly, for .357 you should buy a S&W.

I have many 357 mag revolvers, including the Ruger Redhawk 8-shot 5.5" Bbl.
It is a beast of a revolver and that's what I like about it.
I think it has a very nice trigger, single action as well as double action.
It handles full magnum rounds like a *****cat.
Give one a try, you will like it.

I have the older 6 shot model which is a monster handgun. It is a 5 inch model and it is very heavy, but the recoil even when using 15 plus grains of 2400 and a 160 grain bullet was very mild. I would not try this load on any other revolver.

I currently have a 6” GP100 357 and 7.5” Super Redhawk 454. I had a 7.5” Redhawk in 44 mag a few years back, but didn’t like the grip. There should be another room in Ruger’s DA revolver line for a Redhawk frame with GP100 grip style. Be it 8 shot 357, 6 shot 44 mag, 5 shot 480 or 454.

Thanks for the insight. I did see one review where the guy said he had an issue with the factory grip. I do see that Hogue makes a rubber grip for the Redhawk. From what I've read on Rugers website, the cylinder is milled for moon clips in the .357 version and two clips are included.

I love my GP-100 and like the idea of consistency in terms of manufacturer. I see that, locally, P2K carries them in stock but only rents the .44 version.
