as others have suggested, county and city ordnances may vary. Those reg's originally quoted by Ivanimal is taken from the City of Pleasant Hill, Title 9 Health, Safety and Welfare, Chap.9.35.
Check your local and county reg to verify if, indeed, City of Pleasant Hill's ordnance is applicable to you.

In my area of residence, County of San Bernardino, there're no such restrictions on discharge of BB/pellet air rifles by an adult:

That law is very broad, but all those things could be contrived as illegal - under that law - now is anyone going to enforce that, of course not.

Second, in relation to the quote & ohsmiley's......what can I say except- Wanna bet on it? I've known 3 youth PROSECUTED for firing BB guns, add 1 more for using a slingshot. Granted all were/are tards for also breaking several other laws but if they're gonna throw the book at ya'...well, they WILL throw the WHOLE book at ya' if they can. Now dont go asking for names- these are minors.

Are they stooopid laws & overtly vague? You betcha & it allows for selective prosecution; but dont kid yourself for one second that either a cop or DA wont attempt to prosecute. I've wwatched a cop give a littering ticket to a guy he'd been casually talking to and tossed a wrapper toward the trash & it didn't go in.....guy missed seeing it not going in. Cop called him on it, guy copped an attitude and walked away with a littering citation.

My best friend growing up was given a ride home & his BB gun confiscated for nothing more than walking home with it....and this was wayyyyyyyy before the stocton incident launhed us all into AW purgatory. He was later summoned to juvinile court & mom had to pay the fees though he was ultimately allowed to 'walk' on it....but not after an hour of gettin' grief from the judge about it..

I've got lots of 1st and 2nd hand stories all related to this/these things. Short story is- dont think for a sec they wont 'get you' on some 'lame' or 'stupid' or even 'vague' law. From what I can best determine about 75% of the city codes out there have 'vague' so-called firearms definitions such as the one posted several ones up...and they can/will get ya if they want ya. If a cop allows only a talk or a citation I'd consider it a lucky day, but if he wants to prove his point he's got a wide birth to do so.

So peeps- PLEASE dont forget about them city codes; a lot of peeps get popped for those & never see them coming or were even aware they were on the books. Needless to say, dont forget about COUNTY laws either.
