    P239 VS P229

I have a P239 .40 Caliber and thinking about trading it for P229 .40. What do you guys think? Should I trade it or should I just keep it? I know it will be great to afford both, but I only have to go with one of them right now. I would like to hear your opinion. thanks for your opinion!!!

I have a p229 .40 and I want a p239.40 But I wouldn't give up my 229 for it. My glock 27 in a heart beet but I already traded it for something else. Your probably better off selling it, and buying a new or used 229.

      Depends on your application

I have a P229 in .40 and a P239 in 9mm. The P239 is a good size and weight for carry, while the P229 is a little on the wide and heavy side for that. However I prefer to shoot the P229 at the range, where its weight is an advantage.

So I'd say that if you don't carry, the P229 is the better of the two.

I have large hands and the stock grips on the P239 are too slim and short for my taste. Even with Hogue rubber finger groove grips installed, the grip still feels too slim near the bottom of the grip. Nill grips solved the fit problem for me as the palm swell built into them fills the hand out nicely.

I currently own a P229 (Railed DAK model), and I feel the grip is perfect for those with larger hands with the stock grips.

Both pistols shoot very accurately for me, although I'd give a slight edge to the P239. In fact, I'm planning on purchasing a two-tone P239 soon to replace the one I sold a couple of years ago.

What are you using it for? My P229 is more comfortable to shoot, but obviously larger than the P239. P239 is easier to conceal. My wife has the P239, and I can actually shoot it more accurately than my P229.

If you have large hands, and are using the gun mainly for range time or home protection, I would say go with the P229.

For carry or if you have small hands, go with the P239.

            They are both great guns!

I own a P229R .40 and bought the .357 sig barrel and 9mm barsto barrel for it. It shoots great. The 2 things that stopped me from getting the P239, in the first place, was because they don't make any with rails and its single stacked. Now after having my P229R for 3 months I'm looking for a decent P239 in .40 or .357 and planning on getting the other barrels for it too

Back to the topic, yeah like everyone else has mentioned. What are you going to do? Does the grip fit your hands good? If it's HD/range then P229 would be your best friend.

I used to carry P239 as my off-duty. I now carry HK USP.40 compact. Recent, I bought a P226 in 9mm and fell in love with it. My friends told me that P229 has the same feel as P226 but smaller. So I was thinking about trading P239 for P229. I only use P239 at the range. But I have small hands so I still don't know if I should keep P239 or trade it for P229. Anyways, thanks for your inputs!!

p239 is great if you need concealment potential and if you have small hands. the p229 is chunky so i would say besides the feel of your hand, check out where your trigger finger is when on the trigger; you really need to shoot to know if your comfort zone is there or not.... i am impressed with the smaller size of the p239 and am personally attracted to it in 9mm. however... all my sigs are older w german variety--just love em.
