Limited Edition Firearms

I've been shopping for a 1911 as the next addition to the safe. Today I ran into a Springfield Camp Perry Limited Edition 1911 Pistol and M1A Rifle. You can buy the set or buy them individually. The pistol has nice engraving on the top of the barrel re: Camp Perry, etc and it goes for about $ 1,200 . I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to pay extra for a limited edition piece in terms of future value or just get a good shooter and don't mess with the limited edition stuff?

I think the answer is in your question. What would you rather do? Shoot or watch the value increase as it sits in the safe.

Me personally, I shoot my weapons.

It depends on how much you connect with a piece. If you like it and plan to use it and are not thinking resale, then buy it and enjoy it.

if you are paying a premium for the engraving or the Ltd. edition status and plan to shoot it, then you may wan to pass on it.

My understanding is that once you shoot or even rack the slide for that matter, the value or collectibility has been ruined.

Pretty much what I figured. I'm definitely buying one to shoot so I think I'll pass. Thanks for the opinions.
