    Really frustrating week on Calguns

Man this has been a rough week on Calguns. I've never had a seasoned member back out of a deal in the past and now I have had 2 this week.

Both of these members reached out to me regarding a potential trade. We worked out the meeting location, time, trade specifics, etc. and in both cases the deals were "done."

The first happened Monday evening when we had an appointment at the FFL to meet on Tuesday. Said he had to back out because his adult daughter decided she wanted the gun.

I was pretty frustrated since the gentlemen had 188+ feedback and was obviously had conducted lots of business here.

To add insult to injury he messaged me on Wednesday saying his daughter now wanted to sell the gun but would take $75 off the asking price for me

Tuesday night another member tells me "include these two and you have a deal". Set up to meet 2:30 on Friday at a central location. We message each other several times today confirming and in general just talking guns (cerakote, etc). I set up child care so I don't have to bring my daughter to the transfer. At 5PM I get a message saying if I can't change the deal to drop one of the guns and include cash he can't do it. He has his reasons but again, as a veteran member with 88 feedback I wouldn't have thought this would happen.

I understand stuff happens but good lord this is frustrating. One of the members said he would understand if I left negative feedback. If you were in this situation, what would you do?

Fingers crossed the next transaction goes better - thanks for letting me vent

The second guy sounds like a Richard. The first guy was thinking of his daughter and attempted to make it right when things changed.

If i meet these kind of ppl, I would just black list them and move on. I would love to leave a negative feedback, but per rule ( if I understand correctly), both parties don't lose any money, so maybe an negative feedback isn't appropriate.

I had one buyer wanted to buy my colt and we had already setup the time, but he changed his mind and asked me to cut a few $$ off, then I told him to get it from store.

Dang, two flakes in one week, that's rough.

I've only left negative feedback once because I drove to the FFL for the transfer and the guy was a no show.

If it was me, based on what you described above I'd just let it go and move on, it's a bummer but at least there was communication and honesty.

On the plus side, you didn't go to the meets and get stood up.

OTOH, when somebody agrees to a deal - an agreement has been reached - he should hold up his end. A person's word should mean something.

              I’d say let it be.

Not every deal always works out. I had a fellow member cancel a sell a few days before we were scheduled to meet. He said his wife wanted to keep the pistol... No hard feelings and no negative feedback. Who knows, maybe one day he’ll reach back out.

Just strange since he backed out of the trade because she wanted to keep it. Then 2 days letter they want to sell it rather than the trade we had agreed to. They have since posted it again for sale - with trades listed as well

while it is frustrating, I don't see how the deals were done. they weren't. no money or property ever changed hands
"It is currently CA legal to modify a double-action revolver into a single-action revolver and modify a single-action revolver into a double-action revolver.

CA DOJ BOF stance on modifying handguns only applies to dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot pistols and dimensionally compliant break-open single-shot pistols.
^It does not apply to revolvers, manually operated repeating pistols, and semi-auto pistols." ~~ Quiet
