Les Baer Custom Carry - 3500 rds

Back in 2016 I sold what I thought was my Grail gun, 3XXX SA railed Pro. I'd been through numerous versions of lower end Springfield's and when I finally picked one up in the market place here I thought, this is it. The honeymoon was over quickly though and soon it was just another gun. I wanted something different, nothing pretty just straight and to the point.

Did some research and ended up ordering a Custom Carry from CJ's. Like every other Baer, it was tight as ****. Had more than a few 3 pt jams in the first 3-400 rounds but it only happened when releasing the slide with the slide release and not sling shotting it.

The issue ended up going away and at about 1000 rounds I finally took it down and cleaned it. Fast forward to today and I'm @ 3,500 rounds and cleaned it for the 2nd time because I was out today with the wife and it jammed on me. 3pt jam because of a lazy rack with the slide release, kind of even limp wristed it I think. I've been carrying this gun now for a little over 2 years cycling all different types of factory and hand rolled loads without issue so I'm writing it off to user error.

Bottom line, I love this gun. I carry it almost every day and I'm lucky enough to be able to carry it at work. Of all the guns I own, this one is IT.

Let's see some more LB pics!

Hasn't been this shiny in a long time.

Nice, good report, thanks. Dirty Baers are sexier though 😉

Here's my Thunder Ranch. It has over 10,000 rounds through it. It's been through seven training classes. It's still tight and amazingly accurate. I can count the number of failures I've had on both hands and they've all been related to ammo or hygiene.

With any gun your gonna have some issues along the way. Kept moving forward. That gun ain't broke in yet. Les baers take a bit to settle in. Head over to the 1911 forum everything you need to know about 1911s.

This is my Les Baer Concept 2. I don't know how many thousands of rounds it has through it. It is the gun I use when teaching or taking classes. I don't think this one has ever hiccuped. My other Les, a Premier 2, needed about 1000 rounds of break in before it was completely reliable. I got tired of the wear on it last year and sent it off to Robar to get NP3'd. By far my favorite 1911.
