    Springfield 1911 Loaded Champion

Does anyone know if this specific 1911 (not the full size version ) has a 10round clip? or more than that? I believe it comes stock with a 7round.

They come with 7 round magazines. Lots of people make aftermarket 10 rounders at varying cost. I don't have any 10 rounders but my CMC Powermag 8 rounders work flawlessly.

I actually hav ethe Loaded MC Operator. The Springfield Loaded series is a great gun with great customer service behind it. 1911's can be touchy, but Springfield makes a great one for the price, and if anything goes wrong with it, they'll make it right. You'll be happy with the SA Loaded.

oh ok..i want a really stable compact gun, so i was wondering if the loaded champion is a little too big? My dad has a Colt Mustang IV 380 auto, and the size is perfect.

Fobanginvtek, you need to go shoot a few guns at a local range. Very few if any guns are perfect, but most are highly acceptable depending on who's POV you're looking at. I've had a 1911 Loaded and find the SW1911 to be better guns. The Springfield's have sharp edges while the SW's have a more refined feel to them.

Yes, but how many times have you had to replace the extractor? If 0, why haven't you shot it?

Where did I mention anything about replacing the extractor?

I've also shot the S&W and liked the SA's better. It's personal preference. If you're looking for something the size of a compact .380, the 1911 isn't for you. I also agree with cineski, you need to go shoot a bunch of guns at a range and find the one you love before you make a purchase.

You didn't, I did. SW's break extractors. An external extractor on a 1911 is blasphemous and a weak design. You can melt the edges on a SA if they're uncomfortable for you, you can't "fix" an external extractor.

                        What?

I have never seen an external or internal extractor broken and I do mean never.

I honestly don't know why people get so hung on on the difference...

I personally prefer the external extractors from a purely cosmetic stand point but I did own a Springfield Armory GI with an internal extractor. I never noticed any difference or had any problems.

Both designs occasionally have FTE's. I believe that Kimber switched back and forth a few times and both designs had flaws based on how they were making them. They have since fixed the issues and I think they went back to internal extractors. But, I think it was a hardness problem with the internals and market pressure that caused them to switch in the first place.

The purists tend to like the internal extractors.

My opinion is to NOT buy a firearm based on the extractor design alone.

External extractors have been on firearms for at least 50 years.

All of this being said, the Springfield Champion is a fine firearm. I got a chance to shoot a co-workers stainless Champion. Very nice...nice trigger, accurate, etc. In fact, it was so nice that I still have a hard time figuring out why people buy such longer barreled pistols.

If I would have seen the one in the classifieds for sale before I bought my 945-1 then I would have switched over to the Springfield because the Springfield is hundreds less than the Performance Center pistol.

I don't mean to be argumentative, but I said what I did because I have seen both types break numerous times. The ones I've seen break more were external extractors. I personally think the S&W 1911 is a very nice gun, my only two complaints are the external extractor and all the BS warnings they print on the side of the frame.
