Do 45 Super conversion kits for Glock still exist?

I am toying with the idea of converting a Glock 21 to handle 45 Super. There's a lot of mention in older posts on the interwebs about conversion kits, but I am not finding any that are currently for sale. Is it not a thing anymore?

I have the option of converting to 460 Rowland and shooting 45 super out of it like the BBTI guy does. Just a little pricey.

From my research, a Lone Wolf barrel, 22 lb recoil spring and a stainless steel guild rod is all you need. I have been looking at this myself for my G21, or just ordering the Lone Wolf complete G20 upper and quit kidding myself trying to get 10mm performance out of a .45acp.

I was wondering the same for a Glock 30. It no longer seems that a particular "kit" is available. Notpc pretty much nailed it.

I did extensive Google searching and most Glock forum threads are 5+ years old and dating back 10-15 years. I found the info at the following two threads to be the most useful.

Introduction to the Glock 30 .45 ACP Pistol This reference library is not routinely monitored for new posts. General questions or comments about a G30/30SF/30S pistol or troubleshooting a mechanical malfunction should be posted in the General Glocking Forum at Glock Talk to reach a much wider...

I already have the Lone Wolf barrel and plan to source a 23lb guide rod to complete my conversion.

The .460 Rowland interests me a little. I like the near .44 Magnum ballistics and, since the case is a little longer than a .45 ACP (unlike .45 Super), no danger of the higher pressure rounds winding up in a gun that can't handle them.

Sourcing ammunition for the .460 or .45 Super is problematic for me. Sure, you could reload, but I would rather find ammunition at Wally or my LGS. 10mm is way easier to find locally.

The LGS can order it for you though, right?

Probably, I just purchased some Buffalo Bore .45 acp hard cast through them, but they get their cut $$$. Still trying to justify purchasing the complete 10mm upper. The bears where I rent a cabin aren't that big.

I have a barrel. PM me if you want to buy it.

I was going to do .45 super. Then decided on 10mm. Bought a complete upper, mags and 21 or 22lb spring with metal guide rod. I’m not a reloader and wanted ammo I could buy off the shelf.

All you need is a hevier recoil spring and some type of buffer. The stock barrel will work with 45 Super.

Since there's some discussion about 45 Super vs 10mm here, for California I think the answer is clear.

If you're looking to shoot a lot of target 45 ACP and just want 45 Super for when you need extra power, 45 ACP/Super is a nice combo kit where you only need to change one recoil spring to make it work. If you don't need to source that much 45 Super the savings from shooting 45 ACP at the range far outweigh the higher price of 45 Super.

If you're looking to consistently shoot hot loads, 10mm is the way to go. The ammo is easier to get and cheaper than 45 Super. But you can't shoot 45 ACP without a whole new top.

There's also a 10mm conversion barrel for the 45 ACP Glocks if you just want some extra power at the range for whatever reason. But I don't know how reliable it is.

I've experimented with +p .45ACP which allows me to get pretty good velocities. Not .45 Super level, but also doesn't batter my gun to death either.

I tested the loads in the HK USP fullsize and Mark 23 with the longer barrel. With the 6" barrel on the Mk23, I can reach 1200 fps using a 185gr bullet. 1100 fps with a 200gr bullet and 950 fps with a 230gr bullet. I get about 8-10% muzzle velocity loss on the shorter full size USP barrel.

I've shot with Beetle Bailey, with his converted G20 using a 6" .45 ACP upper he's gotten good results also. Obviously his 10mm makes more muzzle energy.

But the takeaway is the ability to load good performing loads on standard .45ACP cases. So ammo is actually really cheap.

My outdoors load is a flat point hard cast lead 200gr in my USP. It functions fine and doesn't beat up the gun, so I can practice often with it. There is a good deal of muzzle climb with this load as well compared to the factory loads.

Maybe someday I'll pony up for .45 Super brass. But this has kept me satisfied enough to not need to test it yet. The idea of chasing .45 Super brass is not appealing.

Is there such thing as a heavy G21 slide? The G20 has a heavier slide which makes sense to use the same weight with 45 Super.

I could add a Rowlanator to make the slide heavier, but I think it is ugly. I might just get over it. The Glock isn't a beauty queen anyway.

Also, can someone explain to me how a compensator will slow the slide speed down? I understand that it could reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb, but it is not part of the reciprocating mass.

Same with a tungsten guide rod. How does that help other than to make the gun heavier?

Got the answer myself with a little digging. The barrel does recoil with the slide until it unlocks. Makes sense now.

I just ordered the Alpha Wolf stock length barrel, both a 22lb and 24lb flat recoil springs and two stainless guild rods. My 21 is a gen 2 and from what I have read, it doesn't have the chamber support that the gen 3 and above 21's have. The 22lb spring is for the hotter Buffalo Bore Outdoorsman, and the 24lb if I decide to go super. I really can't justify a 10mm at this time.
