first time at the gun range

so i just went to the gun range and brought my G19 with me. i shot the handgun for the first time - put 50 rounds through it. its a little snappy for a small caliber but its manageable. why is it so hard to load after the first few rounds? after for or five rounds it start getting really hard to load.

also how much dos your range charge? they charge me 40 bucks for the ammo, paper target, glasses and ear muffs.

There are many tools that will make loading make easier. Have you tried any of those or you just doing it by hand?

Your glock should have come with its own speed loader.
Also, your thumb will get stronger in time.

It is the 10 round magazines.. I have had my G19 since 2010 and It is still hard to get past round 9.

As far as being snappy.. Its going to take time, repetition and figuring out what you are doing INCORRECT! But you will get it down!

Welcome. The magazine spring will loosen up with use.. you can use the loader that comes in the box for a while until it loosens up. As far as being snappy, I wouldn't say my 19 is snappy but then again maybe I've gotten used to the recoil. Make sure your grip/stance is correct and firm, that has a lot to do with managing recoil. If you're a beginner (judging from the title) I would watch some YouTube videos on proper handgun grip and managing recoil.

What have you shot before that makes a 9 "snappy"? I'm not sure I have heard too many people refer to a 9 in anything longer than a 2 inch barrel as snappy before.

Well quit putting .45s in the 9mm mags!

I am kidding...your thumb will get stronger, get a bunch of mags...and just load them a bit short. You can load them and let sit for a while and after some use they may loosen up a bit...

yeah they taught me how to hold the gun when shooting which is nice. apparently i was holding it wrong because the slide could hit my thumb. gotta keep your left hand on the side of the gun.

However it is loading and unloading that causes springs to "loosen" up. I've read on here on a few posts that most will recommend to store mags loaded with 5-6 rounds then add a few rounds/remove a few rounds every so often.

Try a .40cal and you will change your mind on what "snappy" is. The g19 was a great first handgun to me. As long as your grip is correct, the recoil will become manageable with practice.

no im not complaining. anybody who say there is no recoil in the 9mm is lying.
