P226 DA/SA SRT stiff trigger question

I have a P226 frame with a P229 slide, project from Matrix Precision that I put together. All parts are Sig, I installed the SRT Sig kit in it, everything runs fine. My only complaint is that my trigger is stiff, as in it takes more muscle to pull the trigger, especially that first shot with the hammer decocked. I'm not a gunsmith by any means, but have enough brain capacity to put this piece together. I also have a stock P220 where the trigger pull is noticably easier to pull, extremely noticable. Question is, what can be done to achieve a more smooth trigger pull where less force is needed? Thanks in advance.

You can try a wolff reduced hammer spring

The Grayguns P-Series Master Spring Set

The Master Spring Set includes our 17X and 19X mainsprings, and our competition sear spring. Compatible with many SIG DA/SA pistols.

Also get snap caps and dry fire in DA. That will train you on that DA pull and at the same time "train" the gun to smooth itself up.
      Long live CALGUNS!

what is your trigger pull weight? DA? SA? How do these numbers compare to factory specs?

DA is supposed to be heavy for a reason.

i recommend buying one of these if you are set on working on your trigger:

I do not have an exact trigger pull weight, I built the gun myself using all Sig parts. Thanks for the tool insight, I'll check it out.

No problem, it would just help to compare your p220 vs this one as well as compared to others.

That being said, breaking in the parts can also come into play. How many rounds do you have through it?

Intended purpose? (ever HD? range toy only?)

I've had two P226s with the SRT and short reach trigger (the thin trigger). They both felt very heavy compared to the standard triggers from my W German P226 and legacy P229. The triggers in my WGerman P226 and legacy P229 are way smoother. They also have at least a couple thousand rounds through them to break them in.

Also, I noticed that the DA pull felt like it slapped my finger during the break. Kind of painful after a few pulls. Im going to switch out the thin trigger and keep the SRT. Hopefully a standard trigger will solve the "slapping" issue.

I hate the short reach triggers. Cant imagine how they can work for anyone with ave size hands. Maybe they are meant for people with really really abnormally short fingers.

I did not know that you can put P229 slide on P226 frame. Either my eyes are half awake or my reading comprehension is bad or both.

Your eyes aren't deceiving you. I have a p226 matrix precision frame with a Sig p229 x Calibur kit on it. All parts are p226 except a few are p229 to accommodate the slide mechanism.

I'd like to know the weight on my p220 as well. It's smooth to me for being a stock trigger with maybe 1000 rounds thru it. I have a few hundred rounds thru the p226, maybe I'll work it in a little more and see how the trigger is then. But I think for $35 the weight tool is a good addition to my box.

Thanks for the insight. I do have the thin trigger on the p226. I actually built this for my wife who obviously has smaller hands

A simple google search yields the following:
