I shot in a pistol match last Thursday, and got beaten up pretty badly.

Today I went back out to the range to sight in my gun, a Springfield Armory loaded 1911 9mm.

This was my first target. My point of aim was at the 6 o'clock position on the black ring.

Then I adjusted the rear sight all the way to the left, no change.

My friend Kirby (who's a gunsmith said, let me take a look at it)

    This may be the problem.

After a few more shots, I heard a "bing".

Oh, and the reason the my 9mm gun wouldn't go into battery a few times, was there were a few 38 super rounds mixed in with my 9mm ammo (they're longer).

I'm not quite the gun fighter I thought I was

You should have aimed at the 9 o’clock position on the black. New night sights are in your future I presume...

Well....I can tell you, getting out and shooting in a match is doing more than 95% of most pistol owners.

                          So.....congrats.

As far as equipment failures...just part of the game. Fix it and keep shooting.

I am 50 and just switched to open devision in USPSA after not shooting a pistol in a match in over two years.

So how close was the target....7 yards or less?

Hey you been spouting off about no need for a front sight for years....so what's the problem?

Who installed those Dawsons? I knew those weren't the stock SA front sights. They stake those suckers in pretty well.
