I noticed that a lot of subcompacts have been switching to the dot "I" sights. I personally am used to 3 dot alignment, but was wondering if there was something to the single dot especially for fast acquisition. Noticing it mainly on Subcompact and compact handguns.

Dot the I sights are far more precise than 3 dots. You can see immediately if they are even a little bit out of alignment. The SIG P22x series had them and I first used them on my P226.Comment

Blacked out rear
Front sight: fiber optic, TFX pro, trijicon hd..any bright front sight.
I just run the 1-dot system. I don’t do much precision target shooting, more self defense so this works well for me.
I can see why the compact and sub-compacts are moving to the 2 dot (heinie straight 8) sights. These pistols are geared towards ccw and it allows for quick target acquisition. Traditional 3 dot takes too much time to line up.Comment

I've moved all my pistols to a blacked out rear with a skinny fiber optic front. Doesn't matter the size of the gun. It was the fastest setup for me in IDPA/USPSA.
All you need to do is see the front fiber since the tops of sights are aligned during presentation.Comment
