Does anyone really need a sub-compact gun?

If I will never conceal carry, is there a reason to purchase a sub-compact gun like a Glock 43, Sig P365, Shield etc? Those guns are so small that you can only grip it with 3 of your fingers. Yes there are mags that have extension but give me a good reason to own a sub-compact.

I can't see those being fun to shoot at the range either. All my guns are full size and I have 3 compacts which I don't even care to shoot. Actually one of my compacts is a PPQ M1 which I bought a Q5 Match slide for so that does get shot often but I could care less to shoot my Glock 19 or my CZ P-01.

P239 is the smallest I'd ever carry but that's just me.

A sub compact is a tool built for Concealed carry.

Why buy a tool you will never need.

          Unless you just like it.

I carry a full or a compact normally, I have a sub compact for those rare occasions when I need something small

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

Obviously, its really up to you OP. If you dont want or think you need anything, not just guns, dont buy one. Its that simple, end of story.

Even though my county does not issue CCW permits, I have several subcompacts, a Shield, CW9, Taurus 85, and XD3". I like shooting all types of guns and I want to be competent with as many guns as possible because you just never know what you might have to defend yourself with.

Also if there is ever SHTF where the government has gone MIA, whether or not you have a valid CCW is going to be totally irrelevant. When I go on long road trips its nice to know I have a cheap reliable piece in the trunk just in case there is an earthquake, wildfire, riot or other disaster. Its better than relying on a tire iron. I prefer subcompacts for that purpose because if Im ever on foot trying to evacuate to somewhere, I will want something easily concealable.

I see absolutely no reason to limit myself.

BTW, everyone is different. I enjoy shooting my subcompacts just as much as any of my other guns. They are all 9mm. Hardly what I would call uncomfortable to shoot unless you are a very soft or inexperienced person.

Note that those who have repeatedly expressed enough vile and incoherent content as to render your views irrelevant, have been placed on my ignore list. Thank you for helping me improve my experience and direct my attention towards those who are worthy of it. God bless your toxic little souls.

I really enjoy shooting subcompacts at distance (25 yds). I regularly shoot my G26 and Shield at the range at this distance, really helps you nail down the fundamentals. For this reason alone, I will always own these types. Ironically, I prefer compact and full sized pistols for carry. If I ever had to make a shot under stress, I would be more confident with a larger gun.

The CZ RAMI is a sub compact correct? If so, there is your reason.

People suggest sub compacts for women all the time because of hand size. No, it's not a good reason to buy a sub compact, but it is a legitimate contributor to the sales of such guns.

California reduced capacity. Why carry a G19 when a G26 will hold the same number of rounds in a smaller package? I dont subscribe to this theory but many do.

There is no good reason for you to buy a subcompact. There is good reason for you to sell your unused compacts and get a full size of your choice.

Correct. Other than having an odd preference for tiny things in your hand, there is no point in those guns if you do not carry.

And there is no point in NOT having those guns.

I live in LA County where getting a CCW is nearly impossible, but still own a number of sub compacts . Why? To be honest I'm not quite sure, I guess I just enjoy collecting and shooting all different types of guns.

And someday if things change or we move somewhere CCW friendly, I'll be ready!!
