    Standard Manufacturing

Just asking if anybody has any experience with these new single action revolvers.
I'd really like to get one but I wonder if a Colt would be a better investment.

Standard Manufacturing is a firearm's company specializing in the production of top-quality tactical and classic firearms, including the DP-12 Shotgun.

They sure are pretty, and the reviews look good, but they are dang pricey (at least for me).

If I were in the market for a large caliber, western style grip SA, I'd look at the Ruger Blackhawk. Lots less money, and they are great shooters and come standard with adjustable rear sights. The Ruger Vaquero looks nice, too.

I am not up on Colt SA's, so hopefully someone can help you out regarding them.

Hicock45 did a comparison of the Uberti, Colt and Standard Manufacturing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X-IPewifyY&t=1084s

They look sweet and hickhok45 has a lengthy overview of one on his YouTube channel. If you're looking for an investment piece then I'd buy a first or second gen Colt SAA since these were machined on the same equipment used to make the original Colts and are finite in supply.

For a shooter the Uberti or Ruger vaquero are both fine cowboy guns. If money is no object then I don't think you could do better then the standard Colt SAA clones.

Thanks guys. I have a Blackhawk and a Taylor's and Company Smoke Wagon, both in 357.
I was just curious about these new guns. Don't get me wrong, I can't afford one of these either, but that's never stopped me

          Enjoy your day

          I'll check out Hickok45s video

Definitely a looker, but spendy. For me, if I was dropping that kind of coin on a SA revolver I'd be looking at Freedom Arms. I buy them to shoot, not collect, so Colts hold no interest for me. I can afford Ruger's, like them and own them.

They remind me of the USFA single actions. I have a Bisley (USFA) model and it's very nice. Don't know that it's worth what I paid, but it was always high on my "wanna buy" list. The Standard Manufacturing seems its equal.

On the Standard Manufacturing version I'd like to have seen a chamfered cylinder. I have their Ithaca Trench Gun and for some reason the buttplate and sling swivel screws are Phillips head. Minor point, like the SA cylinder, but one that should be correct on not exactly inexpensive guns.

I was thinking of getting one, but found a early 1990's 3rd gen Nickel Colt for the same price and got the real thing. Love shooting it, it WAS unfired when I bought it, probably close to 1,000 rounds down the pipe since I bought it.

I also have a Uberti clone and a Vaquero, neither has been fired since I got the Colt. If I didn't have the Colt, Standard would be my very first choice.

I've read good things about the USFA guns. They seem to cost as much if not more than the Colts.

Funny story on the USFA Bisley. It was sitting in a LGS geared toward the "tacticool" stuff, kind of hidden on a lower shelf & had a really low price on it. NIB with all the paperwork. During DROS and I was worried someone in the store would learn its value and the deal somehow disappear. At pick up I asked them how long the gun had been there and it was about the 2nd longest in the store. No one had paid any attention to it. Nice to get a little lucky once in a while.

Standard is getting great reviews of course every one wants a Colt SAA-- but good luck finding a used one for a reasonable price- and new ones are near impossible to find.

I've never seen a new one in a gun store and I'm a old devil.

Standard is pricey but damn good quality and the best thing is- you can get them.. Unlike Colt.

Colt is sitting on a gold mine with the SAA but as usual the dumb bastards in management don't have a clue and seem not to be interested in making money...Production of the SAA is slowed to a trickle and the idjot suits have layed off or let go many of the people involved in producing the venerable Colt SAA. According to reports.

If I was a young guy and liked the deadly archaic feel of a original pattern SAA I would save up sell some plastic pistols, put the beer money in the kitty, pony up and order a Standard Arms SAA pattern 'rethink' revolver.

You can get one made to your specs in about 3 months- and you can find them at online vendors and get them now.

Get one when you are young, shoot the hell out of it- put 20-30 years of honest wear on it- and then you will have a treasure.

Going to see how we do on our tax refund. This gun would be for my 17 year old son to inherit along with 80% of all my other guns (got to give the girls and grandsons something) I'll be 60 in 3 months, so I still have time to get a couple more for my daughters and grandson.

A good plan imo- the gun is only offered in 45 Colt- it's about $1900 that's pricey- but they seem to be high quality near hand built weapons..

I am going to try to get one as well- looks like they are expanding their SAR product line. If they came out with a Bisley and started to issue 45 ACP/45 Long Colt dual cylinder guns, 44 special etc. that would be really great.

They are not exact copies of the Colt SAA, they don't claim to be- but differ in small ways in that the cylinder is a bit larger- etc.

                              Wish them all the best.
