    9mm Gold Cup National Match

Just DROS'd one Saturday, seems like a nice enough gun but the price is steep.

Anyone got any info on these? Are the barrels ramped (I neglected to look, but I believe Colt does not use ramped barrels on their 9mm guns)?

    Any issues?

    Thanks.

nonramped barrel, accuracy is GREAT! I had issue with case to face, but the problem was gone after I changed to lighter recoil spring. what OTD price u paid? if it was around $1500, it was normal

Under (just) $1,500.00 OTD. The price for the gun was about $100.00 more than what anyone in the free part of the country charges (based on Gun Genie).

Yeah, but it'll be for the children, so trampling my civil rights would be ok, right?

I found mine to be very accurate. The trigger pull as it came from the factory was too hard, but I got it down to 3 1/4 pounds and it was a huge improvement. One of my off brand magazines does not lock back the slide, but the original Colt mags and the Mec Gar Magazines work fine.

Does your 9mm Colt NM have quite a bit of slide to frame movement? Does it have an extended upswept beavertail? I've handled a 45ACP Colt NM and I was not impressed. Would rather spend a few hundred more for a Les Baer and that's what I did.

I was actually thinking 45acp when I said I'd rather spend a few hundred more for a Baer. What I did do was spend a few hundred more for a Dan Wesson Silverback 1911 in 9mm.

Finding a Baer in 9mm is the hard part.. Let alone in the $1800 price range

there are many options on .45 1911, but for 9mm, we are limited.

The slide to frame fit is no where near as tight as any of my Les Baers, but that does not mean that it is not accurate. The barrel fit to the slide is very good and that has more to do with accuracy than slide to frame fit. Don't get me wrong Les Baers are very good guns. They are very accurate from a Ransom rest because of the slide to frame fit, but when using iron sights to aim the accuracy imparted by a very good slide to barrel fit is even more important, because the sights on the slide provide the aiming point. When you have a red dot sight attached to the frame of the pistol the aiming point is not based on the slide, so here slide to frame fit is very important.

Colts are not going to feel like custom 1911s. But they’re just as accurate in some cases. My Gold Cup Trophy NM slide moves around a bit and almost feels ridiculous compared to a Wilson, but it shoots almost as accurate. My Colt NM trigger also has some side-to-side play, which is perhaps the most annoying thing.

In fact they were almost hitting me in the head. I also had one where the shell didn’t eject at all, I had to pull the slide and the shell fell out. I was shooting Winchester 115gr white box. I was thinking that perhaps I should try some higher grain bullets and various brands. I’ve heard that 1911 9mm don’t like 115gr...so we will see.

i had the same issue until I changed to a different recoil spring, and the ejector was perfect. ( I used wolff 10 lb spring, but you should get a set of springs. 9-13 lbs)

No BTGS, some frame to slide play, but nowhere near as much as my 9mm Springfield 1911 had.

Not too worried about this, I mostly bought this one cause I've been wanting a Gold Cup for a while now.

Are the recoil springs the same as a 45 would use? I have a pack of wolf springs for 45. What is the factory recoil spring weight?
