Holy moly! S&W 327TRR8 & 327M&P are now CA approved!

    Whoa baby!

    S&W 327 TRR8 and 327 M&P (327MPR8) wheelguns are CA approved. Wheeeee-yah!

I've died & gone to heaven.

These are N-frame 8-shot 38/357 wheelguns with 5" bbls. Unlike some of the other 'weird' 327s, these don't have a pimpy two-tone finish.

Unfortunately these don't have unfluted cylinders, but I think I can live

    Oh great...

Good Bye bonus check...it was nice while it lasted.

I wonder how available they are?

Hey Bill, help me out here: what's the diff between the two? Is it just the rails? The S&W site doesn't list the 327 M&P data.

Yeah, I just knew of the M&P from GunBroker posts. I believe it's largely the same, material-wise (these do differ from the light-colored 5" 327s) as the 327TRR8, but the lower light rail is not removable. There's also some slight 'styling' differences.

[I'd've been happy with a 'straight' 627 without the 'wedge'-shaped funky barrel. A plain 4" 627 with unfluted conventional full-lug barrel - a la 686+ or 625 - would be pure delight. I dunno why the custom shop has to put all that funky weirdness on - I've let them know everytime I chat with S&W at the SHOT Show.]

          Mmmmm 327 TRR8.

I'm not a .357 fan, but that does look sexy. I just hate seeing dealer pricing on some of these guns, I should learn to just not look.

Thanks for the info Bill, I might just have to get one and a .357/.38 caliber conversion for my XL650.

Here is one all ready to go with a C-more and tactical laser/light:

                Both have 2 pc barrels.

                The differences are:

The TRR8 has a see through ejector rod shroud. The M&P R8's isn't.
The TRR8 has a removable bottom rail. The M&P's bottom rail is machined into the barrel shroud.
My TRR8 came with a top rail that occluded the front sight. The M&P comes with a top rail with a V groove so you can see the front sight. S&W asked me to mail in my rail and then they gave me the V groove rail.

That gun needs to have a 2.57" - 3" bbl, all one color, and an unfluted cylinder.

I think these have been on "the list" for awhile. I saw one for sale several weeks ago. My own opinion is that they are even uglier in person than in the photos. But some will no doubt love them. I shot the snubby on vacation about three months ago. Never again. I don't mind wicked recoil, but that was too much.
