Hey guys whats up my names steve. And im new to the site. I turned 21 in feb so im looking to buy my first gun/handgun. Ive pretty much shot every caliber and know my way around guns pretty well. Just dont know what all is involved with purchasing a pistol. Im pretty sure i want the XD M 9MM but its also not sold in ca. Which im actually moving to vegas in a couple of months so i may just get it there, but im also eye balling my uncles Desert eagle, or maybe a XD 9 instead of the m. Would it be worth it to just go get it in vegas and bring it back for the meantime? What do you think? Thanks for any advice

The process is easy. Take the HSC test, provide your license along with another proof of residency (car registration, landline bill in your name), pay your money and wait 10 days for pickup.
While it may look cool, a Desert Eagle is a HORRIBLE first gun. Expensive to shoot, big, clunky, and you won't get your basic fundamentals of shooting down shooting .357, .44 or .50AE. Instead, it can widen your learning curve to properly shooting a handgun.
On the flipside, an XD9 is a great handgun. Easy to shoot, much cheaper to feed, and you won't anticipate the recoil as much with 9mm as you would with a heavier caliber.
You must buy in CA, or have it shipped to a CA FFL. You cannot buy directly in store out of state.
Good luck.
