Is the 5 firearm sales per year by private party based on a calendar year ( Jan - Dec ) or a year from when you sell your first one?

Handgun transactions, not number of handguns. Long guns are subject to a vague limit.

right, handgun is no more than 6, and long guns are not frequently ( not like u sell 1 rifle per day)

I'm curious if this has ever came up as an issue for anyone? Like how do you plan on selling a good amount of guns if you are moving out of state? Is the move cause for exception to that rule and how is it enforced? On your 7th sale does the DROS get rejected?

Enforcement is not reported here; that is, we don't hear about it much.

Anecdotally, some posters have mentioned calling CA-DOJ and being told a 1-time 'burst' of sales is unlikely to have investigators wander by to see if you were acting as a dealer without a license.

Cool makes sense. Makes me more at ease when fantasizing about leaving California and selling my guns =)

good thing it is not for buying ... (limit)... But we will see what happens in the next few years ......
