Thinking about picking one up

For home defense and some target shooting at 15 to 25 yards.

Would you buy one again or not.

Are they fairly accurate

If you like DA/SA decocker, SP2022 works well.
Night Sights, Light and Laser then perfect for home defense.
I had SP2022 Night Sight + StreamLight TLR-4 Light Laser.

Accuracy was just moderate, about 1.0 - 1.25"/10yards.

I wouldn't spend the extra money on that. I don't see how it does anything better than a Glock. Especially on the reliability and durability areas.

I got a Sig SP2022 ( 9mm ) in late 2015. I have over 1500rds of commercial ammo through it and it's been flawless. I find it to be more accurate than my long owned gen2 / Glock 19.

The SP2022 is definitely more ergonomic for me, although I prefer the sights on the Glock. Still, I shoot better with the Sig.

It has replaced my gen2 / G19 as my primary HD handgun.

FWIW, my son shot the Sig and G19 side by each some time ago; and he also prefers the Sig.

Sig SP2022 is highly underrated maybe because it’s priced too low or because it’s polymer but not striker fired or because it’s DA/SA. I have said time and again like the above poster that my SP2022 is more accurate than my Glocks. Just there’s no aftermarket support and not glammy enough for many. Even though I have my Glocks, I will never sell my SP2022.

Another thing to consider OP. If you use a thumbs forward grip, it may ride the slide lock and the slide won't stay open on the last round. That is really the only negative I have about the gun. Yes I could change my grip. But with all the other guns I shot with this grip I do not have any issues.

Sig SP2022 is a fantastic handgun. We had 2 at one point. Only reason we sold them was due to the DA/SA trigger. Tough to train around that trigger to become proficient.

They were 100% reliable. Never had a bobble. The Glock 19 on the other hand was a choker. FMJ was o.k., but JHP was another story all together. Also, had trouble getting consistent groups with the G19. The Sig on the other hand was very easy to be consistent on SA trigger. Only real gripe with the Sig were the combat sights. You had to cover the bullseye with the white dot of the front sight. Easy enough to switch out to different sights though.

Other downsides (not really the guns fault) are that the magazines are pretty expensive and some say accessories are tough to come by. But, aside from either a holster or light/laser, nothing else really needed. It's good to go out of the box.

It's an inexpensive, accurate, reliable pistol. Buy with confidence!

Get one. They are well worth it. Many of my shooting buds have been trying to get me to sell them mine for years.

I probably wouldnt buy one again as it just sits in the safe compared to my glocks. That said, it was my first gun and it shoots well especially in single action.

I'm a fairly new shooter and my first purchase was an SP2022. I based it on the many positive reviews and the price. I do not regret buying this gun. It has run flawlessly for about 500 rounds so far and is amazingly accurate, even for a lousy shot like me. Santa just brought me a Crimson Trace Railmaster Pro lazer for it and I dare any bad guys to break into my house as long as I own this Sig. You won't be sorry owning a SP2022.

the SP2022 is a great and underrated handgun. it is just as reliable and good as a GLOCK. 2022 will do everything from home defense, trip to the rage and even good enough for SHTF. you can't go wrong with it...

I have recently purchased one from a fellow calgunner. The DA/SA trigger is a par with my 229. It is lightweight, came with a second backstrap for smaller hands. It fits my budget for a 9mm DA/SA. As always, the fit and function in the shooters hands is what determines a GOOD handgun. Be safe.
