    First Glock, a G19.

Finally did it. While I'm waiting for my new gun's release date to come up, I've bought a few parts in order to make a some minor modifications. G17 smooth OEM trigger, Tango Down plug/tool, and a set of the Vickers Battlesight so I can replace the factory dovetail filler.

This thread is about the new sights. Anyone have a trusted smith in the Bay Area so I can get my sights installed?

Bay area Gunsmithing in Novato. But installing sights on a glock is ridiculously easy. Get a $40 vism sight pusher off Amazon.

I use a vise, wrap slide in leather. I bought a strip of cutting board like material for a buck at tap plastic. Use the plastic as a punch.
      Works like a champ.

Brass punch with the slide in a vice or a dedicated sight pusher would be the way to go. Buying the tools will be cheaper than taking the gun to a smith.

            Congrats on your new gun!

I recently had help from a friend who has a sight tool to install Dawson sights on my G17.

The fit of the OEM rear sight is very tight, so a sight tool makes it fairly easy. Be sure to push the sight from left to right looking from the rear of the gun. Your new sight will need to be pushed in as well.

For the front sight, you will need a socket, or use the tool supplied to remove the screw. It's tiny, so be careful. When you install the new sight, don't over-torque the screw. It's also tiny, and could break.

As mentioned above, take it slow, and be sure to pad the slide.

Nice, a G19 is never a bad choice!

Don't use a punch. Unlikely but could break tritium vials

I agree, I just installed tru glo sights on my friends G19 and I didn’t hammer the new sights. To remove the plastic factory sights, I used a roll pin punch because who cares but I’m not pounding on brand new sights. I made a sight pusher myself a while back to adjust sights/install handgun sights.

It seems strange to buy a gun then immediately change so many things. Don’t you want to make sure it’s reliable as is before you screw around with it? Also, I usually shoot the pistols, see what I don’t like then modify if I change anything at all. Glock factory sights do leave a lot to be desired but they are usable and don’t cost anything extra. For the cheap tru glo sights for example, you can buy a few boxes of ammo instead which is probably a better investment if you’re a new shooter.

Lol...not a new shooter. First Glock, not first gun.

As to replacing so many things, I'm replacing the serrated trigger with the smooth G17 OEM trigger, a factory drop-in part. I'd have to be extremely unlucky for it not to work. And if it doesn't I'd still have the old part.

The Tango Down is nothing more than a take down tool that stores in the grip space. Doesn't affect function or reliability a whit.

I'll bring the serrated trigger to the range just in case. Good thing I'll have the tool with me, I can take down the pistol just in case.

Congrats. Just shoot it and mod it later. Be safe!
