DA/SA all metal vs striker fired polymer frame.

What (if any) advantages do all metal DA/SA service size pistols offer over polymer frame striker fired?

PS. Weigth, size, magazine capacity restrictions, roster are not a
    consideration.

All steel full sized hammer fired 9mm is the Cadillac of handguns. Close second is 38 special fired from full size 357 magnum revolver.

For carry, the polymer high cap pistol is obviously choice due to capacity and light weight. For shooting pleasure, stick to all steel pistols and revolvers.

It depends. Some like the heft/feel/weight of an all metal gun over plastic fantastic. I prefer my 1911 over an XD or Glock or Shield.

As far as DA/SA vs striker fired, that depends too. Some LEO agencies require or issue DA/SA such as Sigs. Some like having a decocked hammer fired pistol like a Sig. Others like a safetied hammer fired pistol (HK).

Is this a hypothetical or is this for you? Range toy? Carry pistol? Home defense?

There is much more difference between DA/SA and striker fired pistols than between metal and polymer ones.

Polymer pistols are lighter and don't rust, but otherwise there is no inherent reason why polymer should be striker fired and metal should be SA/DA. For example, HK are polymer DA/SA, and Kahr makes all steel striker fired pistols.

I have S&W Model 59 and a Shield, both 9 mm, and actually took both to range a couple of days ago for a workout. Shield is light and handy but there's something about a 14-round full size real steel gun. It's the one I would prefer if I was going to war. Super accurate too, with adjustable sights.

Traditional DA/SA auto pistols give you additional layer of safety with its long and heavy first DA pull.

Thanks everyone. For the last 25+ years I have Glock on my hip. On duty , off duty it's a Glock 9mm most of the time. Some people I work with experiment with XD, Hk vp9, PPQ, M&P etc. Once in while I take out my old 92G Beretta or my German made P226 to the range and it's a totally different experience . Better. Glad I kept them and about to buy a couple of more.

As stated, your question is vague.
But, there is a da sa hammer fired poly grip gun. It's called Sp2022.

Ultimately, personal preference and what you shoot best.

Remember, just because you like or dislike something doesn't make it good or bad.
