    S&W MP shield 2.0

Is there a California version or are we stuck with the original shield model?

Will never be a CA version of Shield 2.0 unless something drastic happens with our laws or a court decision.

            All about the roster.
Dont think SW will be making a microstamp Cal version.

Micro stamping. The original Shield was grandfathered on the roster before micro stamping was required.

But all new semi handguns need microstamping - which practically speaking does not exist. And any change to the original Shield, like a change to the trigger mechanism found in Shield 2.0, means it would have to meet the new (impossible to meet) requirements.

All you really need to know is you live in CA and CA doesn’t want you to have guns. If you accept that as a given, everything else makes sense even if it shouldn’t.

So, unless you are exempt, perhaps one will be for sale in the Calguns marketplace, if you’re willing to pay a California markup. Another option would be to have an immediate family member, out of state, who wanted to gift you one.

FYI...Microstamping went into effect in 2007 if I'm not mistaken. Even though the technology literally doesn't exist yet, it became a requirement for any new guns to be added to the roster...which is why no new guns have been added to the CA roster since 2007...but plenty have dropped off.

The only way this will change is through the legal process. And it's 2018 so you can see what kind of luck they've had with that so far.

Microstamping was suppose to go into effect on 01-01-2010. However, it wasn't until 05-19-2013 that is was certified by the CA Attorney General and it went into effect. [PC 31910(b)(7)(A)]
