You most certainly cannot put it on a permit. And due to the "3oz of steel embedded in the polymer" requirement (forgot the bill number), it is just not feasible anymore. That's why GS was trying to ship them out prior to July 1st, but the ATF screwed us.

    EDIT: here you go

None of the currently available Polymer80 frame meets the requirement of having a 3.7oz of PH 17-4 stainless steel insert that is embedded in the receiver in such a manner that removal will destroy or significantly damage the receiver. [PC 29180(b)(2)(B)]

Which means none of them can be used to legally make a firearm in CA by a non-FFL.

ATF had nothing to do with it, it was the Ca legislature yet again.

I did it but it was before the new steel embed requirement. Mine are registered to me now.

The polymer 80% ship has sailed!

You can still do an all metal handgun. Just need to apply for the serial number beforehand.

An aluminum frame 1911 makes a nice 9mm pistol.

FiFY. DOJ now basically sends you a reminder of this when they send you the serial number, and tell you it can’t be converted.

The whole ship has sailed for homebuilt semi pistols.

Yes the ultimate blame is with the CA legislature, however the ATF didn't approve the ss80 design until after July 1st. If you got in on the pre-order sale and followed along, the timing of it suggests that they did this on purpose but who knows...

As Lenny explains in this video, he believes it's because of the Las Vegas shooting and that bump stocks had a valid ATF determination. So everything being submitted to the ATF was under high scrutiny by the DOJ.

Just curious, I assume you are talking about an 07. Can they make and keep for themselves? Trust option?

Or do they need to sell what they make?

If you want a G43 that bad, I’d rather pay through the nose with a PPT and get a reliable, 100% Glock.
