    Time for a Springfield longslide?

I searched out some of the older topics relating to 1911's and think its time to pick one up. From one of the recent posts.. I LOVE the looks of the two black Stainless models... however... think the Longslide is a force to be reckoned with - anyone ever watch "Hellsing" .

Anyone have the Longslide model care to chime in?

Anyone have a place to pick one (or order one) up at a decent price?

I have a Trophy Match Long Slide (no longer made) and I love it. It is a wonderful range/target gun. I did my own trigger work and changed a few parts around and have it at an honest 2.5 lbs.

With the bushingless bull barrel and the long sight radius, it is a very accurate handgun, much more accurate than I am. The recoil is very low b/c of the extra weight hanging off of the front. It has been 100% reliable. It is a beauty. Perhaps I will post some pics when I get around to it (it wears Carbon Creations carbon fiber grips).

If you have a chance, definately post some pics - I would appreciate it.

Should I pickup the Longslide, I would definately like to change out the grips - the wood look (to me anyway) just does not go with that beast. Im trying to not make this an impulse buy, but with cash ready...

Im specifically glad to see that accuracy will not be an issue... with some other the other posts on the 1911's , it had me wondering

I guess my photography skills kind of suck and the gun was a little greasy, but you get the idea. I love this gun. Strictly a target shooting/range/competition gun though; the extra barrel length is useless in a practical or defensive situation. However, it is great at reducing what little recoil there is to begin with on a full size 1911 and the longer sight radius really helps out.

Damn that is one sweet handgun; im sure its much nicer in person. If you dont mind me asking, how much did that set you back when you purchased it. Ive been calling around locally, everytime I ask for a price.. they snicker and say something like "Even on backorder, dont hold your breath"

Are you looking for a long slide or a trophy match long slide? They don't make the trophy match long slide anymore and it will be nearly impossible to find. I think I paid 1050 or 1100 for it about 2 years ago (new). But like I said, it isn't in production anymore. The standard long slide model should probably go for around 800 online. I took a quick look online, and you are right, there aren't many in stock anywhere.

Here is a longslide "ported" model. It is the V16. Not sure if want it with all the holes in the barrel.

No I was looking for the standard Long Slide not the trophy match. After looking at the springfield website.. they only listed the Standard Long Slide as an available one (out of stock).

Not a bad price for the V16 - I might have to contact that guy to get further details. I dont know much about the difference in the V16 vs the Standard Long Slide (other than what you pointed out) - any advantage going with the Ported? Im going to see what I can find online as well.

The only difference is the porting. It further reduces recoil. The effect is similar to having a muzzle brake. There may be a slight velocity loss since the porting is actually on the barrel.

Keep your eyes out on gunbroker and gunsamerica. One will turn up soon.

I might be doing some shooting this weekend at Jacumba or out in Imperial if I don't go hunting both days. (definitely hunting on Saturday and maybe on Sunday). My buddy and I might be bringing a couple of 1" bore cannons to shoot if we don't hunt on Sunday. If you want to come out and shoot, I can bring the long slide I have and see what you think about how it shoots. Let me know via PM.

I'm still trying to find an L.A.R. Grizzly or AMT Hardballer.

I contacted Impact Guns to see what their lead time was on this....

                            Quote from Impact Guns
"This gun is a custom model, handmade. This item takes approximately 12-14
months from date of order to arrive,
                            depending on manufacturer availability. "

Forget that LMAO - I guess I have some time on my hands should I decide to pre-order
