With our pitiful roster dwindling by the day, I've more or less come down to 2 guns I feel I'd be comfortable replacing my Glock 19 with while working as private security. The CZ P-01, and the West German Sig Sauer P6. Basically I want to know if I'm a fool for seeking out a P6 to carry. I'm not sure how hard parts and magazines are to find, but the lack of garbage California safeties and the nice ergonomics on both guns appeal to me. Should I just get the P-01 and maybe later find a P6 as more of a historical piece? I guess I could always just buy a 225 A1 when I move...

For security work, why not stick with the G19? It's relatively light, reliable and has no soul, do you won't have to work about mucking it up or abusing it...
But been there CZ and the Sig? I'd prefer the CZ... With the Surplus P6s you may encounter issues with the feeding of hollow points, though it would be kind of cool to know it was a police officer's side arm and one point, in a far away land. The CZ, will function and take whatever abuse you throw at it, parts are plentiful and well in case you do break something.

Bingo. The company i work weekends for doesn't mind, but I do random contracts for another company (private events etc) and they have a sa/da policy and I don't want to carry a wheel gun lolThen out spake brave Horatius; The captain of the gate "To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late, And how can man die better, Than facing fearful odds, for the ashes of his fathers, And the temples of his gods."Comment

So that’s why I always see young security with revolvers, I didn’t think that was part of their job to require a hammer fired gun, just thought they were trying to buck the trend, like hipsters.Be kind. Be honest. Be consistent.Comment

insurance purposes i think. i've never really asked tbh. but i'm guessing the insurance policy is different when your guards are carrying 6 rounds of .38 rather than 11 rounds of 9mm. just a thought. also revolvers are less scary i think? the gun control loving public of california seems to quite enjoy my presence at jewelry stores, malls, concerts, and all manner of highly populated soft target areas though. ironicThen out spake brave Horatius; The captain of the gate "To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late, And how can man die better, Than facing fearful odds, for the ashes of his fathers, And the temples of his gods."Comment

Yeah I think that's what I'll do. Where can I get 10 round mags for the P-01?Then out spake brave Horatius; The captain of the gate "To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late, And how can man die better, Than facing fearful odds, for the ashes of his fathers, And the temples of his gods."Comment

Agreed 100%. The FTO who "trained" me at my post told me he was carrying a Glock when I asked him, only for me to look down and see that it was some sort of FN semi auto in a nylon holster. The jewelry shop workers at my post have told me anecdotes about previous guards leaving their guns in the bathroom, falling asleep on the job, and being on their phones for hours at a time while on the job. 95% of armed guards in this state are idiots and have no business carrying a loaded handgun. Then out spake brave Horatius; The captain of the gate "To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late, And how can man die better, Than facing fearful odds, for the ashes of his fathers, And the temples of his gods."Comment
