Approximate value for Sig P225?

I have an old P225. Serial number indicates it was manufactured in 1983. It's not a safe queen but it shoots very well. Any idea what it may be worth? The only change is the sights. I still have the original sights, but some XS sights were installed. Here is a link to those sights:

I have an 83 as well. It was the first year of commercial production for the 225. I paid 400 bucks for it about ten years ago.

I’d pay $800 for it, it may be worth more or even less but I am not an expert. That’s what I’d pay though if I saw it for sale near me.

The P6 is the same thing and they are still on roster from one importer. Those are usually around $600-$650. But yours is very clean and has the nice feedramp profile for hollow point ammo that early model P6 did not have.

A photo of the muzzle with the gun at slide lock as well as pics of the rails on both sodas of the frame could give us a better idea of its worth.

The P225 is an excellent pistol.. Both a reliable and comfortable fun for CCW. I carry a P225 or a P228 often.

I have a P225 just like yours, stamped Made In West Germany on the slide.
I inherited it last year when my Father passed.
This is a sweet shooting gun, took it out last week and put 20 rds of Winchester white box 115gr FMJ through one ragged hole at 7yds.
I have been offered several times $1000.00 to sell it.
I will never sell mine, I will pass it down to my son.
I say keep yours, enjoy shooting it.

Thanks for the info. I'm only thinking of selling it because it doesn't fit my hand very well. I always have a liking to a big grip. I have a 226 that fits me well so that is the only reason for possibly selling this one.

I'll second the recommendation. My P226 had grips just a hair too big for me and I went with some slimmer aluminum grips - a night and day difference.

Third this. That's what I did on my P220. Put on Rosewood grips and it fit perfectly.

The P225 is a $650-$750 gun in the rest of the country. I don't know what the CA off-roster premium might be on it, but I'd suspect only a few hundred at most given the non-popularity of the P225 here in CA. I think the P225 is fantastic--I own three. Definitely think about keeping it.

OP... If you're looking to pick up a P226, might as well toss it out there in the marketplace as a trade. I imagine there may be an interested person or two that's got a P226 sitting that would like a nice P225.
