I just picked up the HP22a Deluxe Range Kit from Turners last week on the 29th. So far I love the thing. I bought it to experiment on because I know a lot of people have this little gun and there are a lot of ideas of how to improve it.
I have a 3D printer so I decided to try and design a magazine follower that would allow the gun to have a last round hold open feature. Sure enough, after a day of prototyping, I was able to design a follower that is strong and reliable. Granted, I have only put about 50 rounds through it so far but its holding up no problem.
For anyone interested in adding this feature to their HP22a, let me know and we can work something out for purchase of parts or sharing of the 3D files. So far, I can print these followers in about 20 minutes each but it requires at least that long afterwards for sanding and tinkering to get the follower inside the magazine. Phoenix really designed these magazines to NEVER be opened. Its crazy. The whole conversion with sanding and lots of swearing takes about 30 minutes per magazine.
Anyway, I'll have some pictures of the results posted soon.
