I wish all handguns had the same sight cuts

It would sure be nice if all handguns had the same basic cuts on the slide for front and rear sights. It's so frustrating when your favorite brand of sights isn't available for your handgun. I would think that it is also frustrating for sight manufacturers to have to produce so many different designs to fit different handguns. Has there ever been any effort to get gun manufacturers to standardize their sight cuts? Is there a reason the sight cuts can't be standardized? Either that or just put cut picatinny rails into the top of all slides.

I can see the Novak cut becoming standardized which would alleviate some frustration, but there would still be a need for lower mounted target sights and such.
Then there would be the classic gun market creating a demand for others. So now were back to where we are.
What I really find frustrating is companies seeming to think the Glock 19 is the only pistol anyone should own.

you could always have your slide filled and re-cut for the one you want. Cost might be silly, but if you really wanted it...

Silly is an understatement. CZ Custom told me that welding up the existing front sight cut and cutting a new one would be $250 to $300. That's just for the front sight cut, not for both the front and rear sight cuts. For that kind of money, I could have the slide milled and buy a mini red dot sight (which I might do).

I believe that the sight cuts are actually patented so you have to pay royalties as a manufacturer to use the cut. This is just speculation, but I heard that’s why RIA used to use “almost” Novak cuts.

The only gun I have an issue finding sights for is my P10c. PIA sight cuts. I'm hoping that the release of the P10f and P10s will open that market up.

I've also contemplated doing a RMR sight milling and RDS but We'll see what happens first.

Dawson Precision makes sights for the P10c. You won't find a better sight on the market.
If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.
