1911 Reassembly problems - slide stop

I'm seemingly running into a brick wall trying to get my Springfield loaded 1911 reassembled. In particular, the slide stop lever won't seat all the way back in. It doesn't seem to be an issue with the plunger, because I can pop it past that fairly consistently, but the lever itself keeps sticking out from the frame. The post seems to be going through the barrel link and through the other side with no obstruction, but for some reason the slide stop isn't fitting all the way through the cutout in the frame.

I've had this 1911 for years and never run into this problem with it, so I'm a bit baffled.

The slide take down notch has to be aligned with the slide stop head.

Pull the slide back to where the half circle notch is over the slide stop head and then push the slide stop in.

lol....you need to move the slide back enough so that the small semi-circular cutout on the slide (just to the right of the slide stop notch on the slide) lines up with the slide stop...so you can push it all the way in.

LOL. Thanks guys. I don't know why I had that brain fart. I had it aligned with the post rather than the stop and was going out of my mind as to how I'd suddenly become unable to do something that I previously did with ease. Feel free to troll me at my expense.

OP has the gun for year, so I don't think the alight of slide stop and semi circle causing the problem must be something else. But if it does then OP need to watch more youtube

Also, if you have a small needle file, consider making a LogMan mod to your slide stop. Slide has to still be aligned of course, but it will be easier to overcome the plunger when reinserting.
