    S&W 586-8 MeproLight Question

Backstory: I hated the red insert front sight that came on the gun and wanted a 3-dot style front sight that I'm most used to. So, I went and bought the MeproLight ML-22771 and had it professionally installed on my revolver.

I took it shooting and noticed that my groups at 10yds were nice and tight but consistently 4" high with the rear sight blade bottomed out.

Question: Is the ML-22771 the correct sight set for my revolver or should I have gotten the ML-22770?

I'm no techie when it comes to this but do you have the old sight? Can you measure it?

Used several different brands of .38spc ammo.

Also, I don't have a caliper to properly measure the sight height. I know that the OEM front sight blade is .278" though.

Also also, I'm not sold on the MeproLight, if there's a better sight system for the 586, I'm all ears. I prefer 3-dot sights or other combat style sights because that's what I'm trained on and it gives me something on the front sight post to make absolutely crystal clear when I focus on it. However, I'm not huge on fiber optic sights.

Think you got the wrong one mate. ML-22770 states for revolvers with a red insert front sight.

            Can't help on better/different sights.

Install fiber sight, then replace from red to white.
              now you have white dot!

and the 22771 is for revolvers with pinned front sights. Mine has the red insert and it's pinned.

Circle back if you don't mind once it's resolved. I'm thinking of using them for a 625-3 in .45Colt

                          Isn't the L-Comp only a 3" barrel, though?
