Have these been discontinued and if so, why, problems, maybe an up dated model being released?

In a nutshell, one is striker fired one is not. and the trigger pull on the 9s is better than the 9. The 9 has a longer pull and reset.

I have one and like it quite a bit. The trigger is decent, unlike LC9, and it fits my hand better than a Glock 43. It didn't give me any issues. The only potential problem I can think of is its service life, I don't think it's anywhere near that of a small glock. I might be wrong there, of course. Alao, I heard the US-made mags are bad, as opposed to the Italian ones, similar to the LCP mags, but I had no issues with either.

Oh, and it conceals well in a pocket holster.

I own an LC9s, it felt and shot about the same as a G43, but a "screaming deal" on one from PSA determined why I didn't get the Glock. Plus I do prefer to have a manual safety. I haven't heard anything negative about the service life, although Ruger does caution that "excessive" use of +P ammo can have adverse affects upon longevity - much like any other gun. I have not heard anything about US vs Italian mags, I have both with no problems.

What I *have* heard is that the LC9s has been discontinued in favor of the cheaper EC9s - but a quick peek at Ruger's website does NOT confirm that, both are still available.

Can't you foreigners in CA buy the LC380 and then purchase the 9mm upper. It's an excellent pistol, buy one. I just bought a lone wolf 9x18 barrel for my LC9 so you could shoot 3 cartridges with one of your LC380s if you wanted.

Yes we can get the LC380 and then buy the 9mm conversion kit. Ends up being 700, (420+260) instead of 300-500 in a free state depending on color...

Multiple places has blue LC9S ones for under 300.

LC9S = Striker fired. Still in production.
EC9S = Striker fired. New production variant and cheaper version of LC9S.

LC380 = DAO hammer fired. Still in production. 9x19mm slide assembly available, which makes it into a LC9.

I had a LC9s until just recently. It was a nice little pocket carry striker fired pistol but nothing special. Trigger was much improved over the LC9. Like others said, probably on par with the Glock 43. Threw some Harrison FO sights on it which were a big help.

I would have hung on to it but have no hope of getting a CC and was offered too good a deal not to let it go (CZ tactical sport).

If you found one for close to free state retail I'd go for it.

I carry the EC9S, same as the LC9S except for the sights milled into slide. Nice shooter for the price.

Shot ball and hp ammo with no hiccups. Did a few mag dumps with all 115g ball rounds and all HST 147g, also one mag mixed with both. No FTF or FTEs.
