    Colt 1918 Production

By no means it has a collector's value, but nevertheless 100 y.o.
Considering Cylinder & Slide to replace golden trigger and hammer.
I am real happy with the way the gun shoots though.

Apparently, I have its brother.........#390xxx.........bequest from a deceased friend who always chided me about never owning a 1911. Always been a Smith man, myself.

Mine also is no longer a collector's item.....having been poorly nicked and also having obviously had the U.S. property marks somewhat crudely removed......I have toyed with the idea of attempting a restoration as the only real issues would be the prop. markings and some draw filing to restore a couple of flats. Mine still has the original long trigger as well.

Incidentally, mine surprised me with its accuracy level as well.........only thing is that hammer will bite if you get in the least sloppy with your grip!!

Thing is both a keeper and keepsake!!

I like early Colt 1911's. Too bad that one has been buffed to death, I do agree that the gold hammer and trigger make it look like a pimp gun and it would look much better if their finish matched the rest of it.

Nice to see that you are still shooting it.

My 1918 Colt was shipped to the C/O at Springfield Armory on 28 March, 1918.

Love the older 1911s. There’s just something about them...they each have a story to tell.

Really wanted a decent condition military 1911 (not A1), finally scratched that itch a few years ago. Not top quality, but as much as I could afford. Safe queen only, I don't risk shooting it. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. These old 1911's make the best key chains. I use to always lose my keys until I attached my 1911 onto the key ring.
