    M&P 2.0

CG, what are the pros and cons of this handgun? Yes, I did a search before starting this thread and only found ap3572001 asking the same question (comparing it to Glock & VP9) but not really getting any satisfactory answers.

I've never owned any S&W besides a super picky 15-22 that choked every 2-3 rounds and a .500 revolver. What is the hype about? I'm thinking about moving on from Glock 22 as defense pistols that I have at work and home.

Ergos are good, the grip texturing locks the gun in your hand (though might be a bit rough for CCW), and the factory trigger has a nice tactile and audible reset when compared to the first gen.

Don’t think there’s any unreasonable hype about the gun; just seems like a natural progression of the design based on common complaints (slippery grip and vague reset) of the first version.

If I didn't have to pay the CA premium, I would personally by a shield 2.0

If you live in a free state its a pretty good gun.
        Grip stippling is aggressive
        changeable back strap
Mags are easy to find and not super pricey
        low bore axis
trigger is not to my liking but APEX makes new ones
sights are standard three dot and steel

Ive had the 2.0c for close to a year and I love the ergos. It shoots flat and on point in my hands. I now have over a thousands rounds with no issues. Taken it to every tac two gun match I had (5) and a Spartan 300 all steel match and it was solid. I'm going to get the 2.0c 45 as well.

Trigger is not that great. I put apex trigger on both. The grip is perfect. Not aggressive at all.

from what I have read, 1.0 had a crappy trigger and 2.0 is much better. Also as mentioned above, Apex trigger is recommended.

Is it as reliable and low maintenance as, let's say, a Glock 17? How about aftermarket support? I'm just curious if it's worth trying it out instead of just staying with a tried and true platform, however boring it may be.

Renting one is not an option, which is why I made this post.

The 1.0 trigger isn't *that* bad in the later guns. I've had 3 of them, and own a 2.0 FS, Compact, and Shield now (the fullsize being my duty gun). The 2.0 trigger is a big upgrade, to the point where I don't even care about upgrading to an Apex.

As far as reliability, mine have all been very good, same with my glocks. Aftermarket support is slightly more limited. Plenty of sights and holsters available. Less as far as extended controls, which personally, I have not needed.

The trigger on the 2.0 is much better. It's not Apex great, but it's good enough that I don't feel compelled to spend money on an Apex trigger, which I would do on 1.0 M&Ps without a second thought.

Also, I really love the new texture. Gives a good grip without being to aggressive or rough on the hands. I've only had mine for a short time but so far, it's been just fine. I'd take one over a Glock anytime. And yes I own Glocks too.

I have a first generation with an Apex Trigger and Barrel. I asked my buddy who has extensive experience with both and he said if you still plan on putting in an Apex Trigger and aftermarket Barrel there's not enough in the 2.0 to justify upgrading from 1.0 sure the guide rails are a little bit longer and potentially creates a stiffer pistol but how much you would actually feel the difference I'm not sure. The only 2.0 I would probably ever buy is a compact

I have shot the M&P 9mm 1.0 - The 2.0 trigger is better when I tested side by side, but I like the Glock more than either of them.
However, I own an H&K VP9, and out of the box it has (IMHO) a better trigger then both the Glock and the M&P. The only other gun similar to the VP9 that has a better trigger than the VP9 out of the box (IMHO) is the Walther PPQ- which looks strangely similar to the VP9.
That being said they all feel good in my hand, are reliable, and wish I could own them all
That’s my opinion, based on actually use.

I love my M&P 2.0! It's slowly become my favorite gun. I find myself leaving the 1911 at home and always bringing the 2.0... I know it's sacrilege but it's true.

I had a big handgun collection and only ever shot the 2.0, ended up selling off a P320 and PPQ and a raced out M&P 1.0. I only kept the few I actually shoot.

I do have a bit of aftermarket stuff in it like an APEX FSS trigger, TFX Sights & extended mag release. Next is an Apex Match grade barrel. The stock is still more accurate than my 1.0 so I haven't been in a hurry to spend money for no reason.

I feel like my handgun collection could absorb one more handgun but I haven't quite figured out out what that gun is yet, i'm thinking a M&P 200 4.25" with RMR and mag well. We'll see what the good lord blesses me with.

If you're local to SD you can shoot it, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Good luck.

That is strange because in my experience, the Walther P99 is inconsistent and while the PPQ Q5 Match is accurate, it's too expensive of a handgun to reserve just for HD purposes. Bought a VP9 few months back and only took it to range once, it replaced the USP9 as my favorite (and accurate) handgun to shoot.

From the responses so far, it doesn't seem like it would be an upgrade from Glock.

I bought the PPQ M1 (the one with the paddle mag release). I’ve been collecting brands I didn’t own (Ruger, HK, Walther, etc - getting a CZ next) and I was pleasantly surprised with the PPQs trigger and accuracy out of the box. It has turned into a nice range gun - I think the CZ will be a lot better

For HD/SD I’m still a Glock fanboy and it is what I carry and train with most. So, I would agree with you that Glocks are always a good reasonably priced option.
