Browning BDM Info

I picked one up while out in the boonies comes with one magazine and box no papers looks like it wasnt shot much. Something a little out of the ordinary and will kind of sort off satisfy my high power itch. Passed on the decocker model they had, it seemed to have an issue with the hammer or sear. Really like the way this one feels. I know magazines are going to be a pain but I'll find some if I'm patient. Only pic I have of the it for now.

It only takes BDM or BDA mags. I have the BDM I bought new back in the 1990's.

It's a fine 9mm full size. It's also rather thin. I found a vender at Del Mar that had mags, they wanted $80 for one!

10rd mags are on eBay sometimes $40-50. If you are exempt you can look for the over 10rd ones but I believe few were imported and they are expensive.

The slide fit to the rail was terrible. Rather sloppy. The gun rattled like crazy.

The trigger was very stiff. It felt like you had to squeeze on the trigger very hard to get the gun to fire.

Also. When you released the slide to load a round the safety would engage. Very annoying.

I bought the gun new. BTW.

I've shot 2-3 BDM's a long time ago, with the same issues...definitely all dogs, and certainly no substitute for a High Power.

I believe Browning discontinued the BDM because came out right before the 1994-2004 Federal law banning new manufacture/import of over 10 round magazines. Kind of killed it having such a big gun with 10rd magazine.

I do like that unique feature the BDM has where you can put it in revolver mode or traditional DA/SA. It isn't common to have a DAO semiauto but that you can manually cock for a SA shot.

Bought one a couple of months ago. Too good a price to pass up (!). Condition is about 95%. Came with an original Browning 10 rounder and 4 Triple K mags. Haven't shot it yet, but seems functional. Time will tell.

I ran another 100 rounds through mine yesterday after reading this thread. Yes, it has a sloppy fit to the rail, it wobbles. Pre CNC guns tend to do that.

But it shoots every time and is accurate.
