Anyone know any LA/OC dealers that will get me in an off roster threaded barrel handgun if I can provide a non threaded barrel?

Off roster threaded handgun

Unless you are exempt from the Roster (LEO, etc), no regular FFL can do this for you.
Regular FFL's can only sell the same exact model of the handgun as is listed on the Roster.
A semi-auto pistol with a threaded barrel is considered an Assault Weapon in CA and therefore would not be accepted to the Roster.

I’d be curious too if a dealer can even have that in CA. My guess is, and hopefully someone knows because I don’t, is you’d have to find a distributor willing to ship the gun without the threaded barrel to an FFL.The race is not won to the swift or the strong, but to the one who endures until the end.
Safety Rule #1:
1) Treat all tweakers like they are loaded

Not obvious.
Do you have any idea how many people that are not exempt post here trying to get away with off roster antics?
A lot more than exempt members.
I hope it works out for you though.
There are a few ways for us regular folks to obtain off roster such as intrafamilial so unless stated, we try to be careful (maybe not always courteous) in our replies.
Good luck.Originally posted by Kestryll:

Two options: either the FFL is licensed to handle AWs and is willing to do the substitution for you (they don't have to do it), or you can have someone out of state configure it in non-AW configuration and then ship it to the regular FFL.
Roster exemptions and AWs are quite different concepts...sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

yes i’m aware of both ways. Just looking for a willing dealer if anyone knows one and can PM me. my usual FFL use to do this but will not do it anymore. Two options: either the FFL is licensed to handle AWs and is willing to do the substitution for you (they don't have to do it), or you can have someone out of state configure it in non-AW configuration and then ship it to the regular FFL.

Got it - makes sense. I was following up on other comments...
I would just give you the "usual suspects" in OC (RifleGear, OC Armory), but I don't know their policies these days as I haven't done an SSE since it was shut down a few years back.sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

I'll add Ammo Bros as good for a phone call just because they have a display case for LEO-only guns.
Another suggestion:
Post this question in the FFL forum, you might get more action there from someone who will do the deed.Originally posted by Kestryll:

There is only one option really. Find a dealer out of state selling the threaded gun you want who is willing to swap the barrel for you before shipping to CA. (or ship just the frame to the dealer and the rest to you)
CA DOJ has made it clear though dealer memo's that even dealers with AW permits who could receive AW's are not allowed to use that license to make them CA compliant.
There is no DWP condition that authorizes CFDs to convert assault weapons into California compliant firearms for the purpose of sales. Such action may result in the revocation of your DWP.Comment

Maybe try Audiophil (member here).
He's an out-of state FFL who would probably do the barrel swap if you send him the barrel. Then he can ship it to your FFL here for transfer.
Good luck.sigpicComment
