I'm building a SS 10mm Caspian 1911 against better judgement. I need to slow the slide down as much as possible for it to have a chance at functioning. Flat oversized firing pin stop and strongest recoil and hammer springs are being used.
I'm thinking of using a hybrid ported barrel to further decrease slide speed, which would help delay unlock time. However, the slide needs to be cut to fit the hybrid barrel, making the slide lighter, which will increase the slide speed. So will the ultimate effect be increased slide speed or decreased slide speed?
I could add a standard compensator, but I'm trying to avoid adding extra length to what will be a carry gun.
Any knowledge on this subject would be appreciated!
