    Best 1911 under $2,000?

    Hey Guys,
Im looking for a new 1911 to add to my collection. Ive looked at Sig's, Kimbers, Springfield, dan wesson, Nighthawk, wilson combat ETC.. Some of them exceed the 2k budget obviously but I'm interested to know what you guys consider to be the best for my budget... I looked at a Dan wesson tonight $1600 that seemed to be a very quality piece however I wanted to do further research . Also, What will retain its value over the years.

I appreciate your time and feedback!

              Bear is a great choice.

But if you are in a free state or exempt for just a few more $, you can get a custom shop Colt M45a1. Good unique 1911 that has some hand fitting from Colts custom shop.

Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

Les Baer. Hand fit, hard fit, accurate, working man's 1911. Check out CJ at 1911heaven. He carries an excellent inventory with the best prices. Some are even custom ordered versions of CA approved 1911's, so you can still get them here. That's how I got my Premier II.

The only 1911 I have ever owned was a Dan Wesson CBOB. It was around $1700 out the door. It was a very good gun, the only thing I didn't like was the front grip checkering was a little more aggressive than I liked. I would prefer to have the scalloped checkering on the Ed Brown. I sold it because I shot over 1000 rounds through it but didn't want to mess it up. I also didn't want to have a lot of money in a gun I didn't carry.

I looked at videos on the Les Baer custom carry. It looks like an excellent 1911. The only thing I don't care for is the front serrations, but that's my own opinion. Dang it, now I want to buy one!

                            Dan Wesson Valor & PM45(not PM7-45)

Both off roster, but they normally go for under $2k even in CA

Baer's are good, but they lack some features that most semi-custom 1911's have
                            - Undercut trigger
                            - large undercut beaver tail
                            - Top slide serrations
                            - hard chrome(very few models)

above are not necessary, but they make the 1911 platform that much nicer to shoot.

yes you can have them added to the Baer, but if you do that,
you start to get into the Nighthawk, Wilson Combat, Ed Brown price point

I believe the PM-45 was the model that i was looking at this evening..
Seemed like a very nice 1911...
