Crossed the Python off the list

Finally added one to the collection serial number dates it to 1974 year of production. No box no papers but looks like it wasn't shot much. Satin Nickel Finish? Also came with the factory wood grips I'm excited for this one to come home in 10 days. Any more info would be much appreciated. 20180908_211928.jpg7730.jpg7729.jpg

Satin Nickel (Coltguard/E-Nickel) came out officially in 1982 (Custom orders early as 1979). Blued and Bright Nickel was only available for 1974.

If its satin looking, could be refinishing or the Nickel is very dull.

Awesome OP, I have (5) and can't really enjoy any of them, as they are collectors. I will probably end up selling them soon, most of them have doubled in value

I would research the authenticity of the green insert in the front sight.

This. If it’s a 1974 gun and it’s got that dull finish,it’s been refinished
for sure. Picture isn’t real clear,it may be bright nickel and doesn’t show
well in the pic. The front sight insert is not correct for 1974,either.

Congrats. As other's have stated, there are a couple things that doesn't quite make it original. On the bright side, this could be a great shooter for you. Enjoy.

                              Chameleon Loco,
Does your Python have a finish that looks like this one? Are your grips the exact same style? This picture was taken from the internet and is suppose to be a 1974 Python.
